    First of all, sorry about the smoke in your kitchen and bad taste in your mouth... those were just ingredients, dude... try this:

    u need to first heat (simmer, don't burn it) the sugar until it's liquid, then add a tiny pinch of baking soda, which turns the toffee caramelly... add water until the consistency of the goop satisfies you... then pour it onto a greaseproof surface (the bottom of a saucepan works for me)

    No it is a lot harder than that.

    You need to make esters, it is all chemistry. I guess you could do like gray said but that is a lot simplier and hopefully not as good.
