Real have bettered their midfield marginally

they have lost Savio, Geremi and Flavio Conceciao
Leaving them with less backup

Also They have decimated their bench for the Defense losing both
Hierro and Campo and also Geremi and Flavio who could play there if injury or suspension occured...

Their Defense is even weaker this year...

yeah, but their starting midfield is better now with now becks and figo playing on the left.

but you are correct, they have lossed a lot of defensiveness in their squad.

i'm just thinking whether or not they have intentions of making a huge last bid for the likes of a vieira or davids before thursday CL deadline.

We have showed last season how far we can go, and we have gone to the final, to the last game that is, and with plenty of ‘if only’.
Our last season CL campaign is far from what to be mentioned as a failure.
We have a good balancing team, and now we have complete our team with youngsters-great youngsters make no mistake about it, all appeared on best of the best last season.
So I say we have a great chance.

Now let’s talk about our opponents.

1. real madrid
the star-studded team is an obvious favorite every year, though with their current unbalancing squad, we will have the laugh.
I saw their game the other night against Hongkong, but only 1st half and around 10 minutes of 2nd half. Their attack was awesome as always, with combinations from Zizou, Raul and Ronaldo-who looks fat but also fast in the same time (hate it), plus some addition from the spiceboy's crosses. It was beautiful.
But then, there's their so-called defense, defender who do much better work when attack, awful as before, and the Hongkong players manage to score 2 beautiful goals on the 1st half.
I'm so glad they didn't buy any decent defender this season... yet.

2. man utd
the only thing I agree with that milanista joke, is that manyoo is similar with Juve. Their squad strenght is based on the team spirit, just like that of ours. They rarely purchase big stars, but can build a solid team. It looks like the spiceboys departure doesn’t mean anything to them, and we-of all team-knew that very well. Then, even when RvN doesn’t play, they manage to beat an on fire Barca.
They have teamwork, and that’s what counts most.
After Veron being sold to Chelsea of course there will be a certain change in their team, and I’m not quite follow the logic of mr. Fergie here, cause veron suit well in that beckhamless team. But hey, I’m not complaining if they’re about to sell all their stars, and hopefully it will do them the harm. Really looking forward for that possibility, though I’m not counting on it.
I hate them to the bones cause they’re the only european side I do fear. Their style of play just doesn’t suit us. Or maybe its just Giggs.

3. muenchen
I rarely have the luxury to watch bundesliga (just have 1 game broadcast per week), but from what I have saw, muenchen can’t be other than another hot favorite for CL.
Moreover, I’m sure they want a payback for last season humiliation. If they’re not, then they’re insane.
Can’t wait to see makaay-elber partnership.

4. milan.
Just purchase 2 oldies to strengthen their team. Cafu, who looks enthusiastic to prove himself, and Pancaro whom I thing have pass his time. Will these two make any good contributions to this team we all love and adore? Hope not... :D
The squad they have in the Marco van Basten era is something to be proud of, but the current european champs is quite something else. They’re the worst champs ever based on goals scored per game statistic. They have no consistency in form, so you will never know. You might get that one which beat Depor 4-0 away, or that one which cannot even cope with the likes of Empoli.
This team is lucky, just like everything else run by the devil himself.
Still, the boost being there as the reigning champs give them extra motivation.
Plus, never forget that they’re still better than that of Brescia, Udinese and co., so we better not underestimating this team. Uuuugh, I’m so scared.

And of course there’s Inter-but I’m pretty sure they want the scudetto thousand times harder than CL, Arsenal with their new-fresh-cheap-no-ponytail-lehmann, Valencia, Deportivo who always give us hardtime, and never forget Lazio -if they manage to get there.
I don’t think Lazio have any chance of winning the trophy, but they are just another man utd to us.

Lastly, how relieved it is to know that Barca is not going to be there.

On ManU....the loss of Veron is no big deal and the loss of Beckham is a blessing in disguise. He obviously de-stabilized the team to some extent (especially with Sir Alex) and now ManU is about ManU and not about Beckham. The thing is though, they haven't really enhanced the team at all and depth is a real issue especially in midfield and attack.

I was at the HK game with Real Vs HK. Beckham was allways in the spotlight.....they took photos of him only.....and I can sense how the players don't like it. Ronaldo and Raul are hungry for attention and they don't rate it.

What's my point? Well my point is that it takes more than just fancy names to make a team win. There is not a huge gulf in quality between teams like Juve, Real, ManU etc etc.....what seperates the teams is the TEAM and not the collection of individuals. Real has managed to maintain that in the past despite their stars but I feel that BECKHAMANIA will detract more than it will add in football terms for Real Madrid.

I really don't know much about Bayern to pass judgement but they are obviously a threat on paper at least and they are the German champions with good Euro experience and they will be hungry after their disaster last year.

But taking it all in, it seems that its Juve and Bayern who have strengthened their squads the most. But assuming that the likes of Real, ManU etc etc are not hit by injuries then its bloody hard to say. Thats why I love the Champions League.

About manchester united, i dont see them like juve. They seems to me more to real madrid, but with a better defence.

And yeah,,i think that the backmania will have his price.

I see real madrid now like a time bomb, in every moment could explode

    My list of favourites:

    Juve
    Milan
    Bayern
    Man Utd
    Real

Arsenal and Inter will be there or there about but they won't cause much problems for the top teams. Juve, Milan and Bayern have the best squads and I'm willing to bet that two of these three teams will meet in the finals. Real will crumble in the quarters or maybe even before, due to their horrible back line, and though Ferdinand, Keane and Van Nistelrooy will try their hardest, they won't be able to carry United without Beckham and Veron.

Me thinks that there will be a repeat of the all Italian finale this season :excited::cool:

Nah, manyoo is more like Juve than real.
They buy good yet unknown players, and make them stars, just like Juventus, while real is one greedy bastard that no other teams can even compare.
Well, Chelsea is going that direction though.

No but im talking in the way of playing. Real and United have the same attacking mentality, and the same will to do "attractive" attacking football, without the consequences. As i said before, remember in the real.United quarters, because both played the same style of game, both scored a lot of goals against each other, but when real faced Juventus, that is a team that worries a lot about defence, they had lot of problems and in the end, were kicked out by Juve.
Anyways, the diffenrence between real and Man U, is that United have a more organized defence, and are IMO more compact as a team than real is, in other words, they are the enemy to beat, at least one of them.

Sadly Iker casillas ,that is a good GK, have to paid the errors of his defenders in almost all the games.

About the "star-makers" thing, it really pisses me off, because, the best of the best players play at juventus, but ironickly, most of them explode at max in other teams. OK is not always, but somettimes happens.

man utd might have the same attacking mentality, but currently dont boast the same quality which real madrid do at the moment. With the loss of Veron and Becks, two players who both featured in the starting line up last season an dhave not been really been directly replaced.

however, man utd do have a better defence, as in a central pairing.

realistically, overall as in sqaud and starting line up, Juve, Milan and Inter all have better balanced line ups and more depth than the rest.

IMHO, Milan, Man U and Real are our main rivals. Milan because of the cl final, Man U because we always struggle against them and Real because they always are a threat.

Then there's Valencia, who I think we should be able to beat, Arsenal, who amazingly won against us earlier and Deportivo, the quality team we finally managed to beat last season. Many of you mentioned Bayern but looking at the way they got knocked out of cl last season, I don't consider them as a threat.

Inter and Lazio shouldn't be too hard to beat either, especially not Lazio who I think won't make any big impact in cl this year. Inter will again look to bring home Lo Scudetto so cl won't be their main priority. Milan as I said will be one of our main rivals, but looking at the way we beat them three times in pre-season and their form currently, it seems we should be able to beat them if it went to another Italian final this year. And I really hope it will!:thumb::fero:
