our new 34-year-old striker will allegedly cost 20-22m per season. that is more expensive than basically any serie a player, bar oshimen at napoli, and juve's most expensive players (cr, de ligt, costa, arthur). plus it seems we're still chasing kean. we're not completely broke.

we just have other priorities, which is a bit of a shame. aouar would cost less than dzeko on a yearly basis, and he could make us a better team overall if we'd stick with a midfield with 3 cm's, not to mention the age difference and the potential future resale value.

i'd take aouar over dzeko, and go for a cheaper 9 instead. dybala as a false 9 was pretty good after the covid break, we don't necessarily need a lamp post in the box to make our attack tick.
The books are not all there is, pal. There is also cash flow to consider. You can't spend and spread what isn't there. Paying 50-60 mil for Aouar right now is just something we simply aren't able to do!

cash flow has to be considered with dzeko too. we have to pay both his transfer fee and wages, and since it's a short-term contract, odds are we'll play roma in 2 installments tops.

btw we rarely pay transfer fees at once. expensive players are usually paid in installments, save for buyout prices which are due immediately.

dzeko's 17m transfer fee in two installments plus his 7,5m net salary: ~22,3m yearly cash flow
aouar on a 5-year contract, 5m net with tax benefit, 50m transfer fee payable in 4 equal installments: ~20m for the first 4 years

I don't think the financials are entirely the same. One is a 2-year cash flow commitment and the other is a 4-year commitment. We don't know if the club has the funds to do that. Don't get me wrong, I think everyone in their right mind would take Aouar over Dzeko.

But from a sporting perspective, which position would you say is more pressing right now? A CF or midfield? I understand the majority's position here in that our midfield is not up to our standards, but at least we can field players there. We literally have no striker at the moment. We need a player that guarantees 15+ goals because the only player that does so is Ronaldo. Though Dybala is a lot, he is not that guy. Dybala after the break was. phenomenal and formed a decent partnership with Ronaldo but, from a tactical perspective, we often lacked a 9's presence in the box. It's also not a given that we will go an entire season without an injury to either Ronaldo or Dybala. We would be royally fucked if that were to happen.

That is a huge assumption. Lyon have every right to demand the sum at once.

He'd be perfect in Ramsey's role.
Immediate thoughts. Tailor made for him.

Hope some club is interested in Ramsey now after his performance.

Would be interesting seeing Arthur and Kulu in that role too. Diff types with their advantages and disadvantages. Kulu lacks a bit in creativity e.g. but will add height in the box.

So you think we'll have Dybala(who is best at CAM), Kulu, Ramsey and Aouar competing for one spot? Not realistic.

Deals are different; 10m for a loan + maybe another year of loan whilst Aouar will work as an up-front straight buy. Don't have 50-60m to throw now.

But Juve do have cash actually. A rare chance is there to fix up messy dodgy deals for older or past it players with little longevity or no resale value. Instead old habits and preferences are being repeated.

Anyhows, I except the haggling over Aouar. I think there have been many recent instances of French talent fading away, eg. Fakir, Thauvin, Ben Arfa, numerous Dembeles. So doubts on his worth is understandable. However, Juve are being linked with 33+ strikers or washed up players. Feels like wasted opportunity especially since Juve have cash now, which is unlikely to be available again in the near future.

We got 55mil for a striker that barely averaged 10goals/season in morata but nothing for this guy.......
Think of it this way. You enter a coffee shop in Amsterdam with only 10 euros to your name, you want the AK47 spliff, or the White Widow, which both cost 25 a pop, and you realize you can't even afford the meazly Purple Haze which has been put on sale due to it nearing the expiry date. So what do you do?

Well, you buy a 6 euro space cake of course, and sit tight for a minute, until that nice warmth hits ya, and then you bring your calm ass to the counter and negotiate some kind of loan deal for the spliff. Now, he may not give you the AK or the Widow, but with some persistence, and with the promise of overpaying for it, he'll throw ya a "lesser" spliff in the end.
