Fucking PATHETIC how they are showing reruns of "Locked Up" on MSNBC, along with reruns of Anderson Cooper.

The media outlets here deserve to die in a figurative sense. They are fucking crap.

Lockup is pretty awesome though. Where else are you gonna hear about some guy stabbing his wife ten times with a kitchen knife because she wanted to leave him? Puts Jerry Springer to shame.

Good explanation of what a meltdown actually means...

Meltdown = casing around the fuel rods melts, fuel concentrates in the bottom of the core. It is in close proximity then and gets MUCH hotter.

From there it depends. Worst case scenario:

Starts boiling off the water causing a steam buildup and explosion in the reactor vessel throwing a plume of radioactive debris into the sky like chernobyl. Burns through the bottom of the core, melts into the bedrock till it hits groundwater.

Bigger steam explosion. More radioactives into the air...

For real? What does it mean? Sounds like a whole generation is fucked.

What I hate is that the media is using human ignorance about nuclear power to fabricate a disaster that's puny compared to the earthquake and tsunami into something that seems much greater.

Right. Nuclear Power really isn't that dangerous.

Three mile Island wasn't the disaster it was made out to be and we won't see another Chernobyl. It's all just fear mongering.
