One reason I have massive respect for Lupe Fiasco is he is true to himself and his fans, plus true hip hop. The track "Dumb it Down" is one of the most innovative tracks I've heard in a while, and while I don't exactly find it amazing, I love the message he presents to us and tries to defend real hip hop, unlike fuckers like Wayne. Lupe Fiasco certainly is not a friggin' sell out like many of the other rappers out right now. And for that reason, I can certainly respect him.

I mean, at least he has some dignity. Listening to him and listening to crap by Young Jeezy, it's obvious this guy has talent. I honestly don't know why my brother Burkie hates him so much.

Ignore the fan made clip, but this song is just one of his many songs, not his best despite being quality. But for example listen to the verse that starts in 3.07mins. Just tell me whats bad of a verse like that ;)

That is my favorite track by Lupe. It's not only amazing, but it blows fucking Wayne out of the rap game, which I love to see.

Burke hates the track for some reason, don't know why, but IMO it's one of the best tracks in the past few years.

This shit is fucking SICK. And it also has a message which I don't see in other crap today.

I also love the beat, too. It's beautiful IMO.

Dumb it down is on point for sure. Another little parody of rappers he made is called Switch, notice his little "experiment" ;) Fucking priceless.

What he uses the same beat the shitty clowns of hip pop for their shitty crap (I'm looking at you fat grilled out fuck, Mike Jones  ), is a valuable experience :D

The brilliance starts with this line and goes until the end of the track:

The ink of a scholar is worth a thousand times more than the blood of a martyr

we came through the storm nooses on our necks
and a smallpox blanket to keep us warm
on a 747 on the pentagon lawn
wake up the alarm clock is connected to a bomb
anthrax lab on a w. Virginia farm
shorty ain't learned to walk already heavily armed
civilians and little children is especially harmed
camouflaged torahs, bibles and glorious qurans
the books that take you to heaven and let you meet the Lord there
have become misinterpreted, reasons for warfare
we read em with blind eyes i guarantee u there's more there
the rich must be blind b/c they didn't see the poor there
need to open up a park, just close 10 schools
we don't need em
can u please call the fire department they're down here marching for freedom
burn down their TV's, turn their TV's on to teach em

Lupe Fiasco is is fantastic. Not only are his lyrics catchy, and rhyme well, but most of his songs have clear social and cultural messages. Plus in songs like American Terrorist, and hurt me soul you feel that he is sincere in what he is trying to tell, unlike many rappers today.

If he continues on this road then there is no doubt that he will be among the greatest in the next 10 years or so.

I say he's good because he is good in my opinion, and I've heard all his stuff.
That's fine, I have no argument against that.
So thinking he is good is overrating him? You havent even said whats bad of him, what songs do you dislike? He has lyrically been praised ALOT, and for good reasons.

And virtually everyone in the industry are friends with Jay Z. Nas didnt only say good things of him, they are close friends nowadays. VERY stupid reason to hate on Lupe. Jay Z and Kanye are supporting a talented rapper with the right approach, because they are fan of his creative talent, and they have a vested interest in that Hiphop is represented by rappers like him.
I was joking in regards to your first sentence.

I dislike all of his songs.

I think, lyrically, he's better than 67.93345% of people making albums right now.

I think Jay-Z is a sellout, and Kanye doesn't make real hip hop, in my opinion. It's great to listen to, but it's not the type of shit I listen to on a daily basis.

Well i don't think hip hop is represented by any three of those artists.
I mean, at least he has some dignity. Listening to him and listening to crap by Young Jeezy, it's obvious this guy has talent. I honestly don't know why my brother Burkie hates him so much.
Ohh, I don't hate him that much, just don't like his stuff.

He will never be considered top 20 or 30.

Andy: Consistently spitting out verses like that one is why he is lyrically praised as hell. He really has an extremely vivid and unique way in how he spits his rhymes.

Indeed, very innovative artist. Lupe is a great guy and also great lyricist, one that in my opinion should be respected. And not ONCE have I heard someone say he's the best ever or even himself say he's so damn great. I think he's a very humble MC actually, from what I've heard.

I like the beat on Switch, but I just hate his voice and the way he comes off....

Might be that (I think) he sounds arrogant.
Well, I don't know where you get that from. He never calls himself the greatest like Lil Wayne. Not in any of his tracks do you hear him praising himself. Phonte is more arrogant than he is IMO.

Greatest ever? No way he's better than Rakim, Guru, Nas, Biggie, KRS-One, and the like. He's in the bracket behind them, but that's not really an insult.

heh. Well he answers that question in the song superstar. He says right at the beginning "I wanna believe my own hype, but it's too untrue, the world brought me to my knees"

so much refreshing from the typical rapper "I'm the best alive, axe about me"

He is SOOOOO arrogant, that he has taken a break from making more stuff (just after two albums) because he doesnt think he he has in him to spit much good stuff or have anything in particular to say. What a sign of arrogance.

If anything, this guy suffers from lack of confidence. He is talented as heck, but he is very uncomfortable with being praised.

or...

1) Common
2) Bumpy
3) Canibus

so on

so on

I didn't say he WAS arrogant, I said the way he presents himself, his voice, SOUNDS arrogant.
My voice and your voice sounds much more arrogant than his. Honestly bro, I don't know what you're talking about. Rakim, Biggie, Big L, even Phonte could be described as having an "arrogant voice."

Big Boi, Andre, Big L, Cee Lo, Common, Cormega, Erick, Parrish, Dre, Snoop, Cube, Ice-T, Keith, LL Cool J, and maybe any main member of Wu.

All of these mentioned in these two posts will go down as being better.

Even though I don't like that song, I like that quote.

Burke, you gotta respect this stuff man. He doesn't flaunt himself everywhere and saying ridiculous things like Wayne.

Agreed. And if he really said those things, major respect to him. That's the complete opposite from that maggot Wayne.

Respect to Lupe.
