So run Ubuntu from a flash drive and then save my files on to something (I have an external hd) and then reinstall windows as you say?
Yep. If your PC can boot from USB than do that because it's much faster, but if it can't run the live CD. Save everything to the external and do a reinstall of Windows which will erase everything from the HDD.

You probably have a corrupt filesystem which can sometimes be repaired, but it's best to start a new. If windows however, won't even install than you most likely have a dead drive and need to get a new one. Either way try and run Ubuntu and save your data if the HDD has so much life left in it.

The re-installation of windows wouldn't work, it kept telling me no hard drives were found but turns out there is a Sony Vaio Recovery Wizard on my comp and I ran it and everything is fine now. Factory settings were installed and it's just like the day I got it. Got tons of shit to download though :sergio: but at least it's all working now.

Thanks for the help gentlemen ;)

    Glad to hear that Z.

Shoot, how come I never asked you about the recovery CD. I should have known. :sergio:
If it was a CD I wouldn't have it. Lord knows where all my computer stuff went. Luckily this wizard was accessible on boot up by pressing F10.

Upgrading brings more bad than good. A fresh install is the way to go.

Or uninstall Daemon and reinstall the latest version. It supports 7 completely, working here.

Yeah, i m using DT in win7 as well.
I had a similar issue as Ze's as well on a desktop PC,
it prevented me to post these last few days.
My HDDs were not recognized for some reason, it turned out to be a mo-bo issue though!!

The laptops have a hidden HD partition, exactly for this very reason, thats why they dont come with a CD/DVD.
For XP, i would say its optimal, cause its a pain to find all the correct drivers.
Vista and esp 7 though are far better and include most of the drivers.

My mo bo issue is likely to return, so in case i wont be back, happy new year everyone!
