I was trying to pull him down, too bad you missed the rest.

He was happy on my deck, he had papers in his hands, waving around and jumping like a cowboy. :D
I saw too much already :D

Can you start it in Safe Mode with command prompt? try fixmbr
Safe Mode doesn't work neither does starting windows in the last working configuration.

This is probably something you won't be able to fix by yourself (unless you have a Windows CD and willing to format). See a pro.

The same thing happened to me before and I just let the computer keep rebooting itself until it finally wanted to load (could be like 3 hours or more haha). I think the problem is that the hard drive is fucked up and you need to reinstall Windows and everything from scratch

lol I was thinking of doing that. I think I'll let it to that until it starts or someone has a solution for me.

Let it do that and when it finally starts back up all your important files. That's what I did. That way you'll be ready when you have to reinstall Windows.

I wonder what causes this error though

This won't resolve on its own, only if you are visited by the fairytale lady.

Ze if you get a blue screen then I don't think its a master boot record thing that is failing. Possibly the hardware or a kernel windows file. Not harddrive thing.

Like the guys said, trye safe mode, and try last known good configuration too, might help.

Otherwise the best option is to install windows on a new location (folder) and boot into it just to at least backup your files. Then rebuild your system.

You can also try to reinstall windows again, but you need the CD.

    How do I do that?

First you need the CD mate.
Second you need to setup BIOS to boot from CD.
Insert the CD and just install. It will install to a default location c:\windows but you need to change that to something like c:\winxp or something. Once setup completes you will logon to a fresh installation of windows. i.e all installed programs will not exist. backup your files and then format that drive and start over.

    What's a kernel windows file?
kernel files are core windows DLL files. without them the OS will not operate.

How can I back up the files if it won't let me in though?

the current isntallation won't let you in.
The new installation in a new folder should.
    Only then, you can backup.

Another solution, Disconnect this hard drive and connect it as a secondary hard drive to another machine, then backup from there.

Ah ok. I think I'll try the first thing because I have a laptop and I don't want to be opening it up as I have no hardware knowledge.

    Thanks man.

Now I just need a Windows XP Media Center CD...vlatko...where the fook are you? :D I need the CD, not DVD. Cheers :D

If you wanna save your files either pop in the Ubuntu live CD and have a USB ready, or better yet, install it to an USB disk using this guide. It's much more responsive than a CD and will get the work done faster.

Then proceed to reinstall windows when all is safe.

So run Ubuntu from a flash drive and then save my files on to something (I have an external hd) and then reinstall windows as you say?
