Hey dudes, I need your help!

So I formated my computer, and lost everything.

And now the programs that used to work for me (like Ares, TVU, SobCast) don't work anymore. Even UTorrent is screwing up sometimes. Any idea why would that be?

If you truly wiped clean, as in a Matrix Reloaded ass-with-silk kind of way, it sounds like default firewall configurations are your culprit. Something like Zone Alarm or other that you could be using to keep the bad guys out.

If your computer is running some sort of spyware protection, that could explain it too.

Can you be more specific, Eduardo? What do you mean "check the firewall"?
Check the "Allow" tool on Windows Firewall, or Bitdefender depending on which Windows you have

Did you formated, installed Windows and all other apps?
Yeah, I just used the recovery disk that came with my Toshiba Satellite Laptop.

Will try. I have Windows XP.

I have this Norton Antivirus crap too, that could prevent those programs too, right?

Ok there's this "Exceptions" option on Firewall and Ares is included. But it still can't connect when I try to run it.

For me Recovery Console and System Restore didn't worked. I guess you should at least install apps again, set them up the way you want and then I highly recommend you to install Acronis True Image and learn to use it.

I thought you recovered your XP and lost all apps, but it's good, you just have to configure them.
Computers are, more or less, demanding, you have to have some knowledge to maintain them. And more knowledge can only be good!:vinny:

    Indeed.

So how do I configure them (I still dont know what you mean by applicatons tho)

    This is hilarious, dude :D

Ok here's the situation, see if you can figure out what's wrong:

My computer is the way it was the first day I bought it,
so I download and install Ares but it won't connect, won't work (but it was working perfectly before I formated the hard disk). What do you think I should do?

How did you configured them in the past?
I didn't configure anything mate, I just downloaded, and installed. And it worked, I could search and download anything I wanted. But now it says "connecting" but doesn't connect.
