Hey, everyone. I need to get a laptop that can run programs used for architecture projects for university.
Can anyone recommend?

By the way, I don't care if it's Windows or Mac OS.
Thanks!:D

Won't recommend one specific model but you wanna focus on these
  1. battery life
  2. noise level
  3. big enough screen to satisfy your needs (always check maximum resolution)
  4. Intel Centrino for low power consumption and frequency scaling
  5. enough memory (512MB should be plenty)
  6. a big enough harddrive to hold whatever you need
  7. cdrw/dvdrw for backup if you need it[/list=1]
When it comes to brands, the most lauded these days are the IBM Thinkpads. I myself have an HP-Compaq nx7000, all bliss so far. Stay away from Fujitsu-Siemens and Dell. :)

My mom just got a new Toshiba joint, it is bad ass, pentium 4 at 4.3ghtz, 512 megs, widescreen, dvdrw drive, 56 gig HD, it is sweeter than most desktops I have seen.
Dude... when it comes to technology, all my mom can do is dial a phone number on her mobile phone.

That is her only weak point though.

From the States? You think computers are much cheaper in the US than Lebanon?

Good luck with using that Enlish-letters-only keyboard too.

Yeah, actually. Much cheaper. A 2GHz laptop costs around $3000 here!

Also, I'm American, and don't use Arabic fonts anyway (you think I know how to?) and keyboards with more than one language on them are nauseating to me, so it's better to be English-only keys! :extatic:

That's weird. In Eastern Europe PC prices are almost the same as in the US. I mean- the same laws of market apply, if stuff doesn't get sold- it goes on sale ;)

Oh, I didn't realize you were an American.

I have three languages on my keyboard! :D

I don't know... when I was shopping for a laptop back in Azerbaijan and had an option of my brother to get me one in the US- I saw no point cause prices were almost the same.

... unless you get it on Black Friday.

My neighboor spent a night in front of Best Buy's doors, to buy one of 20 Dell laptops at 70% off for $250.
