alright we got into this whole discussion for no reason i was just trying to say that some people can't picture any holiday without lots of liquor. we drink on any occasion, even if it's a funeral ... and on easter people stand outside of church for hours for the blessing thing that starts early in the morning, and of course everyone who's standing there is pretty drunk.
so i was just pointing out the fact that koreans have a little more common sense not to get wasted on easter and christmas....

It is a fact that many asian people miss this gene, Japan for example. That is one of the reasons Japanese business men tend to get very wild at the karaoke bar after just one or two drinks. Without the gene alcohol strikes much much harder and the body has enourmous problems with getting rid of the alcohol so japanese people can have absolutely terrible hangovers for days.

Perhaps the coreans have been blessed.
I think it doesn't have much to do with nationality but rather drinking habits, and, more importantly, STEREOTYPES.

I've worked with one Japanese guy who would go out and drink with our team all the time... and he'd be on the same level with us (there were Scottish, English, Russians and Azeris).

As for hangovers- I have them too :D... even though it usually take me 600 grams+ of a good quality Vodka to get there and it happens once or twice a year.

Joy. Another one of those Christian holidays forced upon all of us :lazy:

Thankfully the tradition was broken in the early '90s. Shops don't close, neither do factories or universities and life goes on like always :extatic:

Vicky, oni prosto ne ponimayut nas! :)

I think Easter is a great opportunity to get together and socialize. And yes, alcohol is present- local beer and totally beautiful Single Malt Wiskey from Northern Scotland. But we all realize that everybody has got to get up at 7 am tomorrow to go to work! :D

I've taken some great pictures, will post them tomorrow.

Japanese people didn't drink like europeans in the past so they have not had time to develop this gene. It is as simple as that.

Well, that's a "generation-based" drinking habit, right? :)

As for Junichi- this guy I was working with... he would drink as much vodka as I did... with no problem.
