Bianconeri legend Gianluca Vialli fired Juventus to a host of triumphs during his four-year spell in Turin. The striker enjoyed Champions League, UEFA Cup, Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup victories whilst wearing the black and white stripes.
After arriving for a record fee from Sampdoria in 1992, Vialli immediately established himself as an example to follow, popular with team-mates and fans alike, and capable of instilling the right spirit into the squad.
In 1996, following the Champions League victory in Rome, Vialli joined Premier League club Chelsea on a free transfer. His goalscoring exploits continued in West London as part of Ruud Gullit’s cosmopolitan side, before he was asked to step up into the managerial hot seat in February 1998.
Despite lacking coaching experience, Vialli’s leadership skills came to the fore as he guided Chelsea to five trophy successes during two and a half years in the Stamford Bridge dugout.
