I've been reading lately that dumbbell flys can actually end up being harmful to the shoulders. Is this true?
I suppose a lot depends on base strength and form, it's an easy one to mess up and go too far an angle.

If you're concerned about it and have access to the equipment then switch it for something with a similar motion, like cable crossovers.

I just wouldn't consider them a stable shoe personally. A lot of guys lift barefoot at my gym, I tried but I spent the whole time terrified that I'd drop the barbell on my foot.
As if your feet won't get mashed had you had shoes on. Unless you wear construction shoes while lifting.

I'll squat and deadlift barefoot or in Chuck's.

O-lifting, not so much. There's no way I'd risk my feet slipping in bare feet, or the lack of solidity of Chuck's. My Adidas lifting shoes are so great. Love them.

I have used a lot of shoes for running until I discovered Inov-8 and now all my running shoes are of that make. Even my indoor training shoes are Inov-8's. I know they have lifting shoes and I wonder if anyone has tried them. The reason I ask is because their running and fitness shoes are in my opinion way much better than any other running shoes I tried and I would guess they manufacture great lifting shoes as well

Check them out http://www.inov-8.com/New/Global/product-select-fitness-shoes.asp?L=26&WS=WC7&G=Male&F=Anatomic

I got my powerlift 2.0s last week but I've fucked my lower back so I'm doing leg presses instead of squats this week, which sucks balls.

You should get into some O-lifting bro. 'tis a great way to gain in athleticism and explosive power. :D
I want to, but I don't know anyone into lifting at all and the only option I can find for learning o-lifts are through crossfit, and I think I'd rather set my money on fire than pay £400 $600) just join a fucking gym and then £90 ($135) a month.

I'm trying to find a trainer that will teach my proper form on barbell lifts so I can drop using resistance machines all together, if I can find someone that will operate on the once off basis then I'll try to get o lift training.

Crossfit is so retarded and so overpriced. I know the owner of the local crossfit here, he asked me to become a trainer there and get that useless crossfit trainer cert 5 years ago or so. Watching the workouts they do, and the form they use is entirely hilarious.

Olympic lifting can be dangerous if you don't have the proper training. YouTube videos work great for regular lifting and checking form but O-lifting is a whole different animal.
