Here is the deal basically.

i'm participating in a big powerlifting meet in antwerp in 22 days time. Now for the past 5 years, all i had to worry about, was getting well loaded on carbs the day before, cover the complex carbs on the training day, and make sure the last oats-containing shake is drunk 1h30 before i start working out.

Past 2 months i've been in preparation for the meet, and i came to find out that 2 houres really is the max i can push with good loading on the same day and the day before.

But here is the deal. That meet is gonna be taking 3-5 houres, and the final lift is the deadlift, wich is the most strenght demanding. So what i'm looking for, are tips for how to keep my sugar levels good, and refill the muscle glycogene.

Cyclists doing a mountainstage come in mind. They burn sick amounts, and need to "fuel" on the way to be able to do this.

So far, the idea is to get my high oats shake around weight in(or just after) so that its digested when the squats begind approx an houre later. When my 3th attempt on squat is done, i'd plan to eat a nice portion of white pasta, since those are rapidly digested, complex carbs.

Thing is, the stomache must be empty when doing the deadlift. So i cannot keep eating small portions of pasta, but have to resort to liquids instead. So i'm trying to find out the best way of covering that.

I got a real chance at winning both total weight, and much harder, on WILKs coefficient, but 'ill have to set a new PR deadlift for that. So i kinda need to have max energy when doing that.

"To keep things interesting she adapts recipes to increase both flavour and nutrition. Her 'sweet potato brownie’, made for runners, is a perfect case in point. From a basic recipe Renee “reduced the amount of sugar, increased dried fruit and used walnut oil instead of butter.”

The brownies have slow release carbohydrate from the cocoa, fast release carbohydrate from the fruit, essential fatty acids from the walnuts and walnut oil (good for recovery), and cranberries “to give it that tart/sweet thing”, vitamin C and more fast release energy. These are perfect before a race to fuel up, or with a glass of milk after the race, for recovery. Translating scientific knowledge into tasty dishes is a real skill, and vital to keeping the athletes engaged and happy.

Milk, in fact, turns out to be the best recovery drink going. In skimmed milk “you’ve got the right proportions of carbohydrate to protein for recovery, 3:1 … hydration, there’s lots of water in skimmed milk, and electrolytes, replacing some of the salts you've lost. It’s the perfect recovery drink,” says Renee."

Thanks for the infoz, sadly, i'm afraid it wont be neccecary anymore

On the way home from training, someone trew his cardoor open and i crashed into it.The guy (moroccan, what else) had no car inshurance...
My left tight got hit hard by the saddle
Tomorrow hospital, eighter impact trauma or Inguinal hernia.

I can recover quickly from the first, but if its the second, its operation and half a year without deadlifting.

Somehow my right shoulder fully absorbed the impact of the door. big red mark tho, but no muscular issue

That blows, Zach. Can you take him to court or will your insurance cover everything?
It was in the middle of Kiel, and i could barely stand. Usually when this happens and you demand an ambulance, you get "the family" showing up, who tend to be on social payments...

I didnt feel like getting lynched, so i grinded 4 kilometers home on the bike.

"family insurance" should cover it i think. Gonna check tomorrow. But i goddamn hope its not a hernia.

And here i was beeing so happy of matching my PR on deadlift like 15 minutes earlyer :(

It's incredible how you turn out to be the asshole in a situation where someone physically injured you.

Is that so ?

He was in fault. If i was an asshole, i could have called the police, and because he didnt have insurance , i would get compensation from a certain organisation that would then send a bailiff to his house to recover the money.

This fucking idiot might have ruined months of preparation, i spare him of a financial drama and i cant ventilate my anger

I really feel sorry for you Zach, thats just bad luck man. But think about it this way: it wasn't your last chance, this should motivate you to keep going (i know it's fucking annoying at the moment, an injurie destroyed my footballing career, because some lame ass idiot had to kick me in a friendly so my big toe got crushed into numerous pieces, and i'm still sad about it today)

I don't think there is a magical way to keep energy high for so many hours, it's quite hard. I would try and do like the indoor cyclist (when riding 6-days etc.)... Get some rest in the breaks, especially it would be great if you could "clear" you mind in between the contests, since it's also tiring for the brain to be 100 % focesed for so long. Get the adrenalin out, and then bananas, a bit of dark chocolate, raisins and enough water is what you need for quick energy - that's what we always got when playing youth turnaments in the netherlands etc., since there could be 2-3 games on a day, and you didn't always had enough time between them to digest a large meal. Your pasta plan seems fine, but as you mention youself, it's important not to get it to close on action-time...

Sorry to hear that. On a bike, I assume? I fucking hate those assholes that just throw their doors open into the bike lane. I've been lucky, there were many times when I could've been thrown off my bike and into oncoming traffic. Now I only go down side streets where there is very little traffic or people getting in and out of cars.

Sad to hear about that injury. broken bone (the one behind the shin) did the same to my football time :-/

why didn't you show him your muscles?
Kinda did when i checked for injuries. But what are muscles on a stranger in a ghetto ?

Yeah on my bike. driving about 25/28 km/h. With a strong light, hellish red sweater, at the correct side of the road. Out of nowere, cause his lights were of for like +5minutes, he trew his door open.
Wel RIP that door. It overextended ±5-10cm, damaging the doorjoint and the bodywork. he managed to close it with brute force, but then it wouldnt open anymore.
got a big red mark on my inner shoulder, above the bicep, on the spot where it connected to that door.
Got lucky there. If the car was a solid sedan, those doors do not give one bit, and that would have probably caused a tear

2 massive blue swollen area's in the tigh. Kinesist friend told me that could be a good sign. We'll see, i(m walking like a pregnant women to avoid connecting my tighs

Had a really tough week running. Mexico is taking it's toll. Having a tough time keeping electrolytes in me. I'm all stiff and sore. My lungs hurt after every run. I love it.

Damn Zach, just got finished reading your story. Feel for you bro. Hope the injury isn't the serious one.
