I'm not 100% certain, but fairly sure Hiddink was the one to pair Anelka and Drogba, making it work. I think Scolari tried it but failed.

Didn't Ancelotti say he barely changed anything, except a few personal tactical preferences?

I think Hiddink did quite a bit of work there.

Yes, and the tactical preferences he changed was playing Anelka as a 2nd forward (like Scolari did), while Hiddink who likes wingplay alot played him as a psuedo winger most of the time in 4-3-3. Also Lampard played way farther up for Hiddink, his usual role, while with Ancelotti he is like a Regista, bit further back, but with some license to go forward.


Hiddink did well with Chelsea, it wasnt offensive or or flair footie of his usual, as Fred said, but a solid tactical unit out of a mess. Ancelotti also done well, IMO bit better in the freedom he has given his players.

Alright, I wasn't sure how exactly that went down, thanks for the info.

He probably did better, but he did step in at a different time. Hiddink had to fix Chelsea, Ancelotti had to fine-tune it.
