The sound from an S.G is so unrefined and raw that's its hard to play anything but hard rock / metal on it :D It's a cool guitar, but it also limits the player a great deal.

Dat powerchord though,

Dude, the Gibson SG (or Epiphone SG) is the definition of awesomeness...
Indeed, I have a Gibson SG.

I'd rather have my mid range Ibanez than the Gibson Les Paul that you're fapping so hard about.

Those Les Pauls cost like $10,000+.

That's like saying I like my old shitbox honda civic instead of a Mercedes or Ferrari

You can laugh all you want, I'll present one piece of music as my evidence that the Les Paul is terrible. It just sounds like stadium rock.

I always puke a bit in my mouth when I hear that intro :D

Not true, I got a nice blues-y sound out of it today with gain turned down and pickup volume turned down.

I'm not doubting that you got a nice bluesy sound out of it, it's not like it can't do anything but a e-minor and powerchords. It's just that it sounds chunky by default, it's your merit for making it sound like that though - well done.

It's a fantastic guitar for rock/metal, one of the best. (Much better than the Les Paul )

Fuck you you pretentious prick. I think the guitar sounds like shite by default, epitomised by that song I posted. "Come back when you know stuff about guitars", put your Les Paul up your hipster asshole.

Once again you confuse what is being played on it with what the guitar sounds like. Page is a genious, and yet his tone sounds like ear cancer when compared to Blackmore.

That's my take on it and that's why I don't like the Les Paul. If you could just be a bit more open instead of your usual "teenage concretely opinionated about everything" attitude, we could've avoided this discussion. But your comment "Ibanez is meh" really rubbed me the wrong way. You come off as the dumbest motherfucker in the world when you write shit like that.

You can report me all you want, I'm getting sick of your know it all attitude towards differing opinions.

Unfortunately, the guitar had some issues with buzzing frets when I got the action lowered. So the tech said he'll deliver the guitar tomorrow. But at least I got the guitar I wanted. Compared to the other guitars I played, it sounded the best.

I don't disagree. But that's not the style of guitar I presently like.

    Noobs, strat all the way!
Indeed. I played a Squire Strat when I was waiting for mine, and it was just fiiiiiiine! Pity that the stores here rarely have the real Strat.

You live in a billion people country and you don't have any good music stores? That sucks. Here in lithuania, we have them but they are overpriced as hell, any tip instrument will be 20% more expensive then the same in england or the rest of the rich eu countries.

Sorry, if I missed it, but that kind of music do you like/play?
Oh I definitely listen to it. But that's not all the music I pay on my guitar.

Population means zilch when the demographic is lower. More people here buy Indian classical instruments rather than electric guitars. So our stores have very few electric guitars on show. The site I went to only had about 20. And half of them were locally-made guitars; something for beginners and not fit someone experienced like us.

And yes, imported guitars are expensive here too. Gotta deal with it.

I'll keep that in mind. Anything else I should keep an eye on?
Every guitar is an individual, try every guitar you can until you find the one for you.

I say about neck length because its one of the few consistencies between guitars, each is limited to the length of the neck, same goes for the bridge.

The tone woods and neck wood are down to personal taste as are the pickups and the appearance of the guitar.

I find telecasters super sexy and have had one for 10 years, but the necks are mother fuckers and the pick-ups have no sustain.

If you find one with a neck you like then you can swap out the pickups with a soldering iron.

Its about what you want from it and what you want to do.

Les Pauls and Strats are the all rounders, everything else will have its niche.
