That's because D'Addario and Earnie Ball's are the same strings but in different packaging :D

I like to get my strings as dirty sounding as possible, I'm pretty cheesed of that my high e snapped the other day(the first time this has ever happened), I'd only had the current set on 5 months!

Famed for Booker T and the MG's. The whole band kept strings on their instruments for long periods of time, and are known as one of the best instrumental bands of all time, thanks to their sound also. So what's your problem if you already knew that?

Why are you angry at me? I just found it odd that you keep strings on for 5 months. I don't know much about him just who he is. What's your problem getting all aggressive?

They're only like $10-15 and they don't keep that new sound for usually more than a week or so. I play (on average) probably an hour a day and mine last about 1-2 months before they become unplayable i.e. sound shit and don't stay in tune.

I don't play that often these days, so I end up not changing strings for months.

BTW, I'm thinking of switching to .10 guage from .09 guage strings. But I fear I might have to apply more force when bending the strings, which might make it tough. Do you agree?

It is a little tougher sure but it's not a massive jump in difficult, might take a little while to get used to it and practice bends in pitch but you'll be better off in the long run.

    Got me a Banjo :weee:

RE: the string debate - strings need to be changed when a)the intonation is gone, b) they lose their tuning, and c) when they sound like shit. If you keep clean and keep them clean they can last for a long time, elixirs last me over 18 months sometimes.

How do you keep them clean besides washing your hands beforehand? Just wipe them down with a cloth?

    :touched:

I will buy a real LP one day when I can afford a proper one...something like this:

    Collectors Choice #2 Goldie

    Or a Jimmy Page signature.

I don't think a new Standard is worth the price they go for. I'd prefer a heritage (different brand). They're made in the original Gibson factory that made the original 50s/60s Les Pauls.

Those are so fucking awesome. My two favourite guitars are the Gibson Les Paul and ESP Eclipse-II.

I wanted to buy the latter so bad a couple of months ago, but couldn't afford it.

I opted for this one instead (LTD/ESP EC-401 FM):

Very happy with it. A bit less versatility of course, with the EMG pickup combo there, but it's perfect for my needs.

    EDIT: I also have a thing for Gretsch-guitars :D

Not only do they look super cool (in a weird way I guess), but they sound damn good. I love how Martin Gore of Depeche Mode uses those, particularly on the album "Ultra".

The Eclipses and LTDs are very nice. I was actually pretty set on getting a LTD-401 or 1000 (probably Vintage black w/EMGs) until I played the Gibson and couldn't go past that. One of the nicest guitars I've played is an Eclipse-II, full thickness Les Paul style.

    Exactly like this:

The LTDs above (and including) 400/401 series are very good for the money.

I've never played a Gretsch but they do have a cool sound, a pretty unique one too.
