From Gotze and Sandro to Draxler and Sequeira, very underwhelming imo., seems that the Vidal sale was a balancing the books move rather than anything else.

We wouldnt even have got Draxler if Vidal stayed though.

I think Khedira was brought in start here and Vidal being played as AM.That was the initial plan i reckon.

Juve don't need to sell to balance the books.

When was the last time they ever did that, and why, of all years would this year be the time to do it?

All the report shows earlier in the summer that we are able to buy an AM without selling any player, we are still pushing for aloan+ option for Draxler, so where is the money we got from Vidal sale. ??
Last we had a great year, and we had a great team. It always seem to me that Marotta prefer quantity instead of Quality, last year team dont need the Zazas and the Mandzukic of the world. we were like 1 signing away from making a serious push for the CL again this year.

Didn't you just say yesterday that he is a good LB?
Yes he is and draxler also is a good player whom i like, but the drop off from Gotze and Sandro to Sequeira and Draxler is huge IMO

Which report says we are pushing loan + option to buy for Draxler ? :sergio:

Seems like you're making arguments when it suits you.Eevery reliable source says it will be an outright buy.

Initially there were some reports that we want to do a loan + obligation to buy,but thats mainly because we were a bit concerned about his physical condition.

Those two were media BS more than anything to begin with imo.
Sandro wasnt media BS.25m was deemed a bit too high for us.Gotze defo was though.

I think that Mandzukic is very much a quality player, and he is needed far more than people realize, especially now that Tevez left. He brings that experience and nastiness that you need. Zaza, I've already said my piece on that. I thought, and still think, that this was done to facilitate a more reasonable price for Berardi next season. I don't like the move, but I've been proven wrong many times before.

I think that selling Pogba would have been to balance the books. Selling Vidal. I think, was an opportunity to cash in while he was still in that phase of where the returns wouldn't be diminishing.

So even if it's not a loan, i tought that we are doing good financially and that we will be able to make that 25 mil signing without selling any important player, more so, we could be able to raise 25 mil without selling Vidal ( Ogbonna, Isla, Llorente...) The Zaza signing doesn't make sense right now, if we are selling Vidal to sign Draxler, we could've done without Zaza and went after Draxler, i could say the same of Mandzukic.

Do you think this year team with Draxler is stronger than last year's ?? i think we should build on last year result and improve but i think we are taking a step back if it's true.

I would not mind Vidal Sale if its meant we are signing a world class player but it doesn't seem the case.

I'll quote Sergio :

'If taking a step back this year means taking three steps forward for the future, then i'm all for it'

If you don't know what you are talking about, then it's better to keep your mouth closed
what exactly is he saying that is wrong? They did sign Felipe Luis to start and Siquiera has actually had a bad season.

I disagree !! we should look to improve not to stagnate or take steps back. Next year will be more difficult to sign WC players, PL new TV deal, our CL campaign won't be as good as last year most probably....

Meeeeeeeeeh. Screams average. The kind of player that is happy not to $#@! up when he's playing.

This is why I get mad thinking Marotta paid 18M for Zaza, our 4th striker.

You add this money to what there is available and you get Alex Sandro, a potential 8 year starter, world class during that time.

Damn.

Another thing. We can't pay more than 15M for a starter at the LB position, freeing Asa to the middle (you actually gain 2 players for 2 new positions), but you are OK spending 18M for the backup of the backup striker.

Talk about strategy.
Very well said!

hehe, I do understand the thinking but we just finally reached the ultimate final step of getting to the CL final. It feels really bad to have to take a step back yet again.

Hoping for the best.

How many other big clubs always take steps back after every season (and after they've reached CL final)? I've seen too many steps back by us lately, it already makes me fucking sick!
