Why would he be disapointing ? He'd come cheap and is 29
He wouldn't be a "solution", more like a quick fix. I personally wouldn't mind.
I wouldn't mind if he is a quick fix, comes in on loan and sits as Evra/ Asa understudy. 29 year old Brazilian who has never get a single cap for his country, i'll pass .
Our team is made internationals , and unless its just a cheap backup or cover, I would like to keep it the same way.

If we are getting him, then asamoah is being moved back to cm

for the right price - yes.

    what will he cost us?
a number 10 should have priority. would be bad wasting money on a LB
when we already have evra and asa.

(...sorry if you already posted it, but i didnt read the last posts, busy watching haxball vids on youtube...its the 100.000 mentions a day
that made me think about it.)
    10m or less.

    Haxball. PLAY with us.

Meeeeeeeeeh. Screams average. The kind of player that is happy not to fuck up when he's playing.

This is why I get mad thinking Marotta paid 18M for Zaza, our 4th striker.

You add this money to what there is available and you get Alex Sandro, a potential 8 year starter, world class during that time.

    Damn.

Another thing. We can't pay more than 15M for a starter at the LB position, freeing Asa to the middle (you actually gain 2 players for 2 new positions), but you are OK spending 18M for the backup of the backup striker.

    Talk about strategy.

Zaza is a little strange, yet I suspect there was as close to an agreement that we would sign him for the fee we ended up paying, put in place last Summer, in exactly the same fashion we have now done with Berardi. So we were obligated to follow through. At a price which seems to come out as less than 18m...I best add my calculations on the matter to the Zaza thread...

Here is the thing with ZAZA...we can sell him in2 2 seasons for 12 mil if hes meh or he could be good for a long time even if its as a 4th striker. What if we brought in Matri for 6 mil? Would people be furious? no bc thats cheap but its all about what you can get in return

I like Zaza. He's a good player, he's going to be useful, I like his characteristics and potential. Ideal backup for a CF.

What I question is not only the price - he was clearly overpaid, of course. But the timing of the deal. 4th striker shouldn't be a priority before a starting fullback.

I mean, if Marotta is chasing a LB only because Vidal was sold and he needs Asamoah in the midfield, why not simply stick with Evra and Padoin as a backup for the position? Why suddenly go for an expensive LB?

    Doesn't make sense.
