He played LB away to Genoa and away to Empoli in the Coppa, if I recall correctly.

The whole team played horribly against Empoli, so its a bit unfair to judge him on that.

So he played one good game and one poor game at LB this season.

Not really enough to make a judgement on.

Who outplayed Molinaro this year in serie A ?

The problem with Molinaro isn't the way he defends. He's not bad in this department actually.
He's a bad passer, he's losing way too many balls and his crosses are bad and off target. He's more or less useless when going forward.
There were matches when he was our best defender but in almost every match he was our worst player attacking-wise.
It will be funnier to watch Molinaro vs opponent's right backs than watching him against their wingers.

Actually, I think Molinaro is horrible defensively. He doesn't square up with people who have the ball properly, and gives them too much space. It's just that he's fast enough to make up for some of his errors.

I think he is OK defensively when he is defending a player running at him, largely due to his pace.

A bigger problem is when crosses come in from the other side and he has to defend the back post. His positioning and marking are just horrible.
