-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two Italian teams have made enquiries about Grosso. One is believed to be Juve, not clear who the other team is. I would guess that it may be Roma.

Its prolly Napoli. Roma have Antunes they just fully signed, Tonetto who has been excellent for them, Cassetti as backup. Milan will count on Zambro as LB prolly, and wont look for more then backup fullbacks.

I would really love it if we got De Silvestri, just 19, but easily one of the best italian fullbacks, can play both sides easily and it wont take much til he is a NT player.

I also think it's not Milan but considering how they lost both Cafu and Serginho and since both Oddo and Jankulovski had an awful season there is a (minor) chance that they'll go for a LB and play Zambro on the right.
Hard to believe this, though.

I forgot that Roma have so many options so it must be Napoli.
Udinese do need a LB now when they're losing Dossena but they're not big enough for Grosso.
Palermo...hmmm....they do have the money but i don't see him there either.
Sampdoria ?

Outside the big sides, I only see Napoli ambitious enough to bid for him and sway him, have they cash for it too.

Its totally not Udinese's MO, they search for unknown talents and rebuild and make players (then sell them quickly when big teams comes knocking). While Samp is a probable option, but they are downized financially. Not only transfer budget but salary wise.

I love it how the guy also says Pippo Inzaghi... but only because of the last five games. It's like he just threw the other games out the window.

:lol2:

I think he is OK defensively when he is defending a player running at him, largely due to his pace.

A bigger problem is when crosses come in from the other side and he has to defend the back post. His positioning and marking are just horrible.
Agreed. I think his positioning in every one vs. one situation, or man marking in general, is frankly horrible.

But then you know some people here will state that his positioning going forward is good because he's "always available on the wing." Well hell, it's not something that difficult to stay on the touchline and keep up with play. And the reason why he's always available on the touchline is because the opposition knows he doesn't pose a real threat and is afterall a mediocre left-back.

I don't think Tonetto has been "excellent" for Roma, but he's been pretty good. Cannot believe some people here would prefer Molinaro over him at left-back.

I think it's pretty obvious that you just prefer Italians in whatever case we're talking about, whether it be right or wrong.
sure i love it when Juve signs Italians, i am Italian so that is understandable. You are taking a stab at me because i said that i dont like English fullbacks. If it makes you feel any better, id prefer that we signed Evra over Grosso, a french player and im sure many people on here know what i think about France, but i dont think that deal would happen, not this season anyway.

Who outplayed Molinaro this year in serie A ?
You kiddin?? The answer is; like... everybody...
Molnaro managed to stop like 10 ppl from reaching our box or making a cross, in the entire season, 2-4 times at his best games.

The problem with Molinaro isn't the way he defends. He's not bad in this department actually.
He's a bad passer, he's losing way too many balls and his crosses are bad and off target. He's more or less useless when going forward.
There were matches when he was our best defender but in almost every match he was our worst player attacking-wise.
There is a real problem in the way Molinaro marks, when he marks, he marks with his eyes, he can only escort a winger till our CB, so that Chiellini can deposes him, while Molinaro is just staring at him. But most of the times, he is hiding behind Nedved, i wonder what he is doing there, since he never has a successful run or cross. In those 2-3 games of the entire season he was our best defender, he wasny our best defender because he defended best, he was good, because his crossed (accidentally) worked and he hd a decent contribution forward, while he avoided any confrontation near our defense, this is how he escaped mistakes!
If only he was concentrated and effective at his defensive abilities, i would never bash him, but unfortunately for us, he is totally useless, defensively he is just a running obstacle, thats it!

Actually i cant believe anybody would prefer signing Tonetto and getting rid of Molinaro  First one is no superstar, had some good games this season, but come on - this guy is 33 and no one can predict how he will play next season, probably his last full season till he turns to Birindelli. Unlike the other is a promising defender, who can get only better. In this summer Tonetto will be much more expensive than Molinaro, but next summer Molinaro probably will cost more and Serie B club will bring Tonetto as their playing coach. I agree that Molinaro is the leader in Juve if we count the awful games, but he showed some promising signs too, and to sell him after his first season would be extremely shocking.

It will be funnier to watch Molinaro vs opponent's right backs than watching him against their wingers.
One guy who completely owned Molinaro this season was Santana (Fiorentina player) in Turin (when we lost 2-3). After Santana handed him a football lesson, then Papa Waigo continued the torture. :lol2:

Molinaro was absolutely pathetic in that game. Total ownage.

I think Molinaro is not that bad offensively. Sure, his passing/crossing fairly sucks, but he doesn't have a problem going past his markers and always gets into good positions.

P.S. Whoever said Grygera is better than Molinaro at LB position needs to get his head checked. Grygera sucks.

He did cancel Kaka versus Milan this year, clearly when it comes to speed no one can outrun him, but he sucks nontheless

Speed is important for fullbacks but when you look at Evra, Clichy or Vargas it's not the only thing you get, these players can cross, tackle, pass and mark, Molinaro can't

According to reports in Italy, Juventus, Roma and Fiorentina are fighting it out for the signature of Lyon full back Fabio Grosso.

Grosso has had a fine first season in France since moving there from Inter last summer, and won a domestic double of league and cup.

However the 30-year-old is being heavily tipped with a move back to the Italian peninsula, and three Champions League teams all want to sign him.

Juventus are in desperate need of a new left back as Christian Molinaro was decidedly shaky at times during various stages of the past campaign.

Roma also require a player in this position, as they currently have just the 33-year-old Max Tonetto as a solution in their senior squad.

Finally Fiorentina are looking for a replacement for Manuel Pasqual, who will probably be sold after an indifferent 2007/08 campaign.

Grosso is currently preparing for Euro 2008, and played the second half of Friday evening’s 3-1 friendly win over Belgium at the Stadio Franchi in Florence.

The ex-Palermo man played a key role in the 2006 World Cup triumph, scoring in the semi final against Germany, and hitting the winning penalty in the shootout success over France in the final.

Pasqual available?? hmmm

Ask Alen a Molinaro lover if that was true, or it was the other way around..

Speed is the only thing that Molinaro has, along with a decent stamina, he is a good runner, but a horrible football player, i suggest him to find another sport to ruin,
i promise i will not bash him again, no matter how hard he will suck at any other sport:heart: I might actually turn to be a fan of him!!:choc:

He sucks but then again all LBs suck excluding Vargas, Evra, Clichy and Zambrotta.

They've said that in january when we got mellberg and again blanc said it last week when he said we'll have de cegglie and molinaro as our left backs for next season !!
