Grosso is past his best and that is why I want him.

I want someone who has been a top player and who can come in and mentor De Ceglie for a couple of seasons and then step aside for De Ceglie to step in.

I agree with what ur syaing but I don't think Grosso is past his best.. I think he could still be in his prime for the next 2 seasons and then he would be past his best.. in which case as u described would be the perfect time for De Ceglie to step in.. I also like the idea of Grosso mentoring De Ceglie as both are attacking LBs with lots of energy to run down the flank and back

I think Grosso is slightly past his best, but I do think he has another 2 or 3 years playing at a high level.

He'd certainly still be good enough for us.

I agree he could still comfortably start for us for the next 2 years, i think he would be more than adequate for us if he did come.. Even forgetting his world cup and he is still a class player who could add a lot to the team, espicially from an attacking sense from LB

Catania: Vargas for Napoli
Friday 4 April, 2008

Catania sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco has backed Napoli to sign star man Juan Manuel Vargas and discussed the departure of Silvio Baldini.

Peruvian stopper Vargas is making a name for himself at the Stadio Massimino and is expected to join a bigger club this summer.

Roma have been strongly linked with the 24-year-old, but it seems that the Elefanti would rather sell him to Napoli.

“So many sides want him, but if their offers are similar we will go for Napoli,” Lo Monaco explained on Radio Marte.

“The Vesuviani are already in an excellent League position and have the necessary elements for a great future.”

Lo Monaco also gave a brief explanation of Coach Baldini’s departure last week.

“Baldini resigned because he couldn’t deal with certain pressures,” he said. “He had a great half season but then something went wrong.

“Now we have faith in Walter Zenga because he has great enthusiasm and can lift the side.”

Zenga’s first engagement as Catania Coach went according to plan as the Rossazzurri hammered Sicilian amateur side Noto 7-0 in a friendly.

Over 2,000 fans came to watch the training game and Zenga used his strongest squad, except for Brazilian hitman Inacio Pià, who was excused to be present at the birth of his child.

Have in mind that Catania play vs Napoli on Sunday and they really need the win to keep their chances for serie A survival.
It's not a coincidence that such a statement comes at this moment.

Pasqual could go to Palermo. Fiorentina are interested in Barzagli and Simplicio.

Pasqual has been really poor this season by the way. I was a big fan of his, but he has only lost fans this season.

I think that Chiellini should be LB,that's his natural position. An we should buy Barzagli or Zapata,or both to be CBs.
I don't think it's wise to put Chiellini back to the LB. He has had great games as a CB, so another great CB would just make him even better. On the other hand, we have De Ceglie, who could turn to be a great LB.
