Villarreal’s Italian midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi has slammed Real Madrid Coach and compatriot Fabio Capello. In declarations to Madrid-based sports daily ‘As’ (Ace), Tacchinardi blames Capello for bringing the defensive football that worked so well in Italy to a Spain that values an attacking game more than the tactician’s evolved catenaccio.

"Capello play’s that way [with a strong defensive mentality taking priority over the urge to push forward], and I, personally, don’t like it. Maybe he’s won things and is a winner of sorts, but it’s easy to win things with an all-star cast. Let’s see what he does with this team, but from what I’ve seen of Real Madrid so far they play really badly", jabbed the ex-Juve man.

“It seems to me that he’s not all that hot as a Coach, but he’s always played that way. Here he’s going to get it all wrong because the fans in Spain demand attacking football – they want to see their team go out onto the pitch and really hunt down victories through attractive attacking play", added the player, coinciding with recent comments made by Alessandro Del Piero in Italy.

It could be argued that both have suffered from Capello’s preference for other players and that their comments are nothing more than sour grapes. At Juventus Capello made it clear that he wasn’t a fan of either midfielder’s performances; Del Piero sticking it out at the Vecchia Signora, but Tacchinardi opting for a transfer to Villarreal in search of playing time as Emerson took his place at the Delli Alpi.

"This Madrid will win most of their victories by 1-0 or will get goalless draws because their Coach has got that mentality: you can attack, but you always have to defend in mass before. Capello is like that and won’t ever change. It reflects the Italian football mentality which prizes not receiving goals more than scoring them and, in my opinion, that’s not going to work in Spain", he added.

You go boy.:agree:

PS: I know he plays for Villareal. But lets cut the kid some slack mods. He bleeds Black and White and I thought it would be nice to have him in the player talk section. However, feel free to maintain rules if you really have to and move this to where you see fit.
yes sour grapes
thats what i think
tacchi was one of my favourite players and he will still always in my heart
but it seems that he has forgotten that capello has coached the same team 7 years ago and have won with them la liga and i dont remember that the fans asked for his head
victories are more important than attacking football
capello is an italian coach and like 90% of italian coaches he gives priority to the defence
also cannavro asked for more defensive football before the game against czech rep. in the world cup and he said its about italian culture of football, why didnt u criticize him?why are u all attacking capello now?

Pardon meee, 7 years? Hell, it's 10 years (2006 minus 1996 = 10 years). Now, can you see the difference between Real Madrid 10 years ago, and Real Madrid in these past 5 years?

Where's your logic? Why should we hate Cannavaro more than Capello? He just said that Italian football is more devensive, and what's wrong with that?

As usual Tacchinardi and Del Piero have the same opinion. Capello surely can't do worse with Madrid then they did for the last two seasons though.

BS,I would sincerely trade that fluke victory over Werder Bremen in last season's cl to have seen a more attacking Juventus.

Its not always the victory that counts but rather the effort & passion given while playing.Against arsenal they were complete & utter spineless twats that walked about the pitch.

Plain & simple Crapello never instilled the passion & love for football but rather doing things his boring & monotonous way.

is tacchi still a juve player? or did we sell him to villareal?
He's on loan with them, and the loan ends next year.

Cap and Zlatan did something for the team, Capello did win two scudetti, even if they aren't ours anymore. And Zlatan did have an OK 04-05 season, but flopped (as many do in their 2nd season in Italy) in 05-06.

The thing with Capello, was that he didn't build the team into a great, winning team. He just was hired to coach a team of world-class players, and all he did with them was to shape them into a team that'd win always 1-0. That's underperformance. With a roster like Juve's 05-06 roster Juve could have played as dynamically as Barça, but instead we were bored to death, by capello's always-by-the-catenaccio-book tactics.

The thing with Zlatan is mostly Capello's fault (as Crap doensn't know how to build up talents), it was Cap that chose to play him when he wasn't playing very good, and built up even more his arrogance. Even if Zlatan was already an arrogant little bastard when he came from Ajax, another coach may have taught him some humility. Zlatan was young, and could have learnt a lot, if someone would have made him learn, but instead Zlatan is now a mediocre player.
