So then Conte brings Guberti + Camo + Pandev + Diego + Gio...all better than marchionni. This makes me sweat a little over Gio to be honest. What is this going to mean for him?

I prefer we buy a player who's game is more about scoring, even if has other qualities, for example both Quag and Rossi, both forwards, but wouldnt overly compete with Giovinco for a spot persé. But Pandev, dont see him playing winger besides emergencies, and he is a creative fantasista like Giovinco (not exact same type, but too similar), and would directly compete with him for sure.

I know its loose rumours, but rather sign a gamble like Salvio.

P.S Pandev is VERY good even with his obvious flaws (lazy, inconsistent), so this isnt about him as a player, but what it can mean for the squad.

I'm signing this.

I think he's a VERY good player and i also like the guy a lot. If we sign him i'll be a big fan of his, but in reality we REALLY don't need a player like him, even if we sell a striker.

I agree with every single word except this one "Quag".

I dont want Quag, but dont be suprised if he comes to us and obediently sits on the bench, never contending with Gio for a spot etc. Plus I only used him as an example of a mobile forward who is more about scoring, and not a fantasista who would compete Gio, doesnt I want him.

The endless search for new strikers is doing my head in, I'm finding it completely non-sensical.
Currently we have four strikers: Del Piero, Iaquinta, Amauri and Trezeguet. Each one of these strikers (except for maybe DP) are very capable in the air and in the six yard box especially Trez. BUT If Trez leaves what problem or shortage are we faced with exactly? We have Amauri and Iaquinta who are able to cover for Trezeguet. And in case of injury we have Giovinco.
So realistically we have 2 spots for 5 strikers. Maybe 1 spot for 5 strikers next year depending on our formation. On the other hand we have on the right an injury prone Camo and some doofus. On the left we have Giovinco and that's all. At the back we have Chiellini with no real back up next to him and 36 year old with no real back up and the RB position we're without any quality what so ever.

I'm sick of seeing rumor after rumor about strikers when we have virtually no one on our wings and one decent full back. What the hell is Secco doing? Or is there a serious lack of defenders and wingers on the market at the moment?

Or maybe linking us with forwards sells more papers than linking us with defenders?

Entirely possible we are quietly going about strengthening the defence.

Not sure about Pandev either. Would prefer Lavezzi, Rossi...but Pandev with Juve doesn't mean he'll start every game. He'll be good for the turn-over.
Agreed. Especially Rossi who regard as superir to All three other prospects.

Pandev is as good as a Juve player though and, as others have said, he has the ability to adapt to different attacking formations.

One thing is for sure. He will be inked into the starting XI.

Presumably the announcement will be made late Sunday after the Neddy farewell against Lazio.

Well if Marchionni is included in Pandev's deal then that is great if we give Lazio reasonable cash. Then if Conte comes Guberti comes with him giving us cover on both LM and RM for Camo, Nedved if he stays, Gio or Diego. So we keep 4 strikers, get a new younger promising winger able to play on both sides, then if trez obviously leaves he can be included in another deal or cash gained from him can be used for the defense.

So far if these rumors pan out and with our current signatures:
Def: Criscito, Cannavaro
Mid: Diego, Pandev (can play AM), and Guberti
Off: Pandev as well

If we sell Trez which looks likely, one of Zebina/Grygera, one of Tiago/Poulsen then that should put us in a very good financial situation left for transfers. Lets say hypothetically Trez for 12m, Zebina/Grygera 5m, Tiago/poulsen for 9m...that's an additional 26m dollars we can spend for the defense.

If use that wisely lets way Secco pulls in motta for 7.5m, leaving 18.5-19m left for another big signing. Motta would be the answer to our RB worries, Criscito would be the answer to our LB worries and we have Canna for CB with Legro/Mellbeg as backup to him and Chiellini. Now with the additional 18.5-19m I would use it all on Hamsik and then sell the whichever CM we didnt sell of Poulsen/Tiago. THEN that brings in another 9m to use on whoever we wish.

Guberti and Pandev look enticing because they are able to cover more positions if plagued by injury again. We could really pull in a huge Mercato this summer. What the board is doing I think personally are bringing in younger and more versatile players slowly replacing the aging ones we have.

If we did all of that we would have Hamsik, Marchisio, Diego, Gio, Camo, Guberti, Sissoko plus ekdal in a few years and we could probably just sell Zanetti too. That is 8-9 mids with many being quite versatile giving us loads of options for multiple formations.

Motta(7.5-8m)-Canna(Free)-Chiellini-Criscito (?) That looks like a great back four and with the additional 9m we could deploy that on a young promising CB (Kjaer, Tasci, etc)
