Actually, I think the chief Reactor specialist on K19 was only 22 years old, and if I'm not mistaken you can start military training at 16 in Russia.

yes i did the regular military training, then spent 6 months at a reaktor facilty doing work i started at about the 17

then i was sent to the polyarny inlet naval base
