And the Trio Magico

Boniperti, Sivori, Charles

None of us watched them. But also all-time Juve legends.

Easy peasy both those attacks on par with today.
Yea because what counted for an athlete in the 50s is totally on par with the latin god/ real life Terminator that is CR7. You should stick to curling forums.

Yea, because comparing athletes across generations should assume that Athletes today would have the same sport science and training backing them if they played in the 50s and vice versa. :baus:

Our attack in the 50s was led by massive names as dominant in their era as our attack today.

Murican should stick to baseball and golf.

All 3 of Boniperti, Sivori, Charles > Dybala, Higuain, Costa. None of these 3 are even close to those guys right now. Higuain is closest. Dybala may get there in time. Costa lol

Ronaldo is obviously a clear step above, but we don’t have 28 yr old Ronaldo or even 32 yr old Ronaldo.

Why?
The quality of defending was absolute dog shit back then. There was no offside rule either.
That's why they could score so much.

I don't take away anything from them, but talented wise, the guys we have today are way better.

The pitches are better, sport science is better, tactics are different, etc etc etc.

I don’t think you can compare cross-generation over 60 years or even 30 years by saying the guys are more athletic or talented now. That’s obvious.

You compare them for their standing in their generation. And those three were amongst the very best players of their generation. Sivori being a ballon d’or winner. John Charles being a top 3 Ballon d’Or finisher and top 5 for years. All three having led Serie A in goals different years, dominating the league together, being recognized as some of the greats of their generation and mostly amongst the top 100 players of all time.

I think current trio is way stronger than the 2006 version.
I have to agree. Higuain is a hell of a 9, a complete forward. Trezeguet could be more accurate and good for one twos... but higuain today also works as a team player, something than trez never was.

Dybala ronaldo vs zlatan dp... i think we have to give it to ronaldo dybala. Dp was already showing signs of aging and zlatan while he was very good here, was not a world beater. Cr7 is well cr7 i don even need to comment on him... and dybala is in the perfect balance of form, age and experience, he is in his prime.

So the higuain dybala cr7 trio has waaay more potential, we dont have even seen it.

Golf is not Murican . NASCAR and hot dog eating competitions are Murican.

True we have a guy that only scored 11 in his last 8. His form right now isnt to be doubted.

Worst player on the pitch for me. Did absolutely jackshit nothing the whole game. And I suppose we started 3 upfront only because of some stupid idea of Gonzalo against Napoli. It happens though.

Yeah not his night though. Looked slow and sluggish. Wasted a good chance Ronaldo set up for him and was disposed several times in/around the box because it took him ages to make a turn. Loss is not on him, but really poor in game management from our coach.
