Matuidi is better option because everyone is running toward the goal and they woudln't be able to turn back. Higuain is a striker and most of them when they are in such positions take the shot, it was a good shot ffs.

Nonsense on Matuidi. If Higuain was aware that he's there he definitely must have seen Ronaldo with his arm raised. Also nonsense that a striker must take a shot. A good striker realizes who's in a better position. It was a powerful shot from a tight angle. A pass would certainly be a goal.

I think taking a shot in that position is completely fine. Higgy has scored goals from similar positions before. Ronaldo himself quite probably would have taken a shot in a similar position. Those situations come fast and there isn't a lot of time to make up your mind anyways.

i agree it was hardly a scandalous position or angle for a shot. perhaps he didnt even see ronaldo

I don't doubt that, but Ronaldo had the entire left side of the net to shoot at while Higuain basically had to go for the far post or hammer it just inside the near post to score.

If anything Higuain has been passing to him too much, so it's ironic. But as a striker like him it's not surprising that he went for goal there.
