No, he shouldn't. After all, Dybala is demigod Messi and is supposed to make things happen, but when Higuain disappears it's never his fault. He was simply lacking service. The poor soul wasn't being "fed" by the other players, particularly the wingers. Also, it has nothing to do with off the ball movement, getting into positions, etc... None of that is relevant. We paid 90 million, not his fault obviously, for a guy who just stands there and waits for the ball.

Herein lies the problem. He's being asked to do things he's incapable of. Dybala is not a trequartista; he can't function like Isco. This is on Allegri. When he was playing for Palermo, he was the focal point of their attack. He needs to be the CF, or play in a front two, not on the wing, and definitely not a deep/roving position. Those aren't his strengths. We should've never bought Higuain, and trusted Dybala as our main CF. Alternatively, after buying Higuain, we should've focused more on strengthening the midfield and having better fullbacks to overlap and provide crosses for our front 2. Our current formation is not allowing players, particularly Dybala, to play in their favored/preferred positions.
Tbh, I don't rate Higuain as highly as you do. Also, I think Higuain has two seasons left in him. He doesn't strike me as the fighter type, the type that will keep improving and adjusting as he ages. Is Dybala more prolific? Absolutely not, but he has the potential to be. If we have a trident of Costa, Martial, and Dybala, would you be unsatisfied? How about Pjaca, Cuads, Berna, and Kean as options off the bench. That's a young forward line with a lot of promise, pace, and creativity.

Martial is a very good winger, but he can also function as a CF. I'd keep Dybala, and have Pjaca as his deputy for CF, and Martial as an outside option for that role. Higuain can only play one role; Dybala can function as a CF or as an SS.

Allegri said Dybala cant play CF, but what exactly is it that Higuain is doing this season that Dybala couldnt? hold up play? off ball movement? aerial presence? Higgy is a great finisher, when you get him the ball in the box, and he just needs to make one touch before shooting. we obviously dont have the midfield for him to wait till someone else creates a chance for him, which is why Dybala as a false 9 would be more useful for us since he can do more with the ball

his ceiling and potential is only relevant of he actually had a place on the team otherwise it's pretty irrelevant. So a winner would help us more in this conjecture

Dybala would form a great partnership with Diego Costa at Atletico Madrid. He seems like the ideal type of CF to be paired with Dybala. Either that or as a false 9 at Man City or PSG.
Theoretically, Higuain would be tougher to replace because of the scarce CF market but he's also the reason we have to sacrifise our best talent to make the team perform better. It's an odd and unfortunate situation to be in atm.
