1.) We won 5 consecutive Serie A titles before he came here, so it really isn't an issue. We don't need Higuain to win Serie A. 90 million is an awful lot of money for guaranteeing a few more goals domestically.

2.) He's not a top 3 striker in the world; definitely not this season. He's too inconsistent, moody, and emotional.

The only issue is whether anyone would be willing to pay 50 million in today's game. Currently, the market is rather inflated, so there's a possibility, but it's quite remote tbh.
Agreed. To be that over a long or longer periode you simply needs to be ruthless and hard like a shield mentally. Lewandowski and Suarez are like that, Higuain seems to let his emotions take over too often.

1) you think that we would have won serie a last season if Higuain would have stayed at Napoli? I honestly don't think so, and also take into account that Pogba would have left anyway. Also I believe that this season if Higuain was at Napoli they would probably be above us in the standings (they are just 4 points away now).

2) I was referring to the time of the purchase, when we bought Higuain he was top 3 without a doubt, and I still believe that he is easily top 5 at this very moment.

People woudln't want to pay 50M for Higuain, are you serious?

If you are interested in why, in my opinion, Higuain is "not scoring", please have a look at my post that is a bit above yours.

Basile: 'Higuain soiled himself'
By Football Italia staff

Former Argentina Coach Alfio Basile blamed Gonzalo Higuain for their 2014 World Cup Final defeat to Germany. “He soiled himself.”

The phrase is in his new autobiography, titled 'Generacion Lio’ and the Juventus striker does not come out well from this book.

“Of all the players, the one that was most singled out by the people for blame was Gonzalo Higuain. They do not want him in their squad because when that World Cup is remembered, the chance he missed at the start is what cost us the title.

“The truth is that it’s difficult to explain what happened to him, because suddenly he was unmarked, had the ball at his feet and was 20 metres from goal with every option open to him and could place the ball anywhere, but instead the mist descended and he fired it wide.

“It’s not good to say that he soiled himself, but that’s basically what happened. He was weighed down by the responsibility of realising he was about to score the goal that gave Argentina the World Cup and would gain immortality.”

Basile also bitterly criticises colleagues Jorge Sampaoli, Marcelo Bielsa and Diego Armando Maradona.

Which Higuain will turn up?

With Juventus and Napoli set to lock horns in a mouth-watering Scudetto showdown, Vilizar Yakimov wonders which version of Gonzalo Higuain we’ll see

Gonzalo Higuain is such a strange character, isn’t he? Il Pipita can be so deadly, but just when people start thinking he is a world beater, he somehow manages to miss an incredible chance and his form suddenly drops. Then, just when the critics are ready to label him as a flop, the Argentinian shows his best side and leaves football experts, as well as probably his Coach and teammates, wondering which Higuain will show up in the next game.

This season is no exception. The ex-Real Madrid striker started the season poorly, but then suddenly exploited and scored crucial goals against Sporting Lisbon and Olympiakos in Europe, as well as a fantastic brace against Milan in Serie A. A couple of weeks later the 30-year-old punished his former teammates, as he scored the only goal in Juve’s 1-0 victory against Napoli at the San Paolo.

This amazing run for the powerful Number 9 was followed by a few quite games in which Higuain showed signs of his other side, missing some good chances and looking a bit short on confidence. However, just like he so often does, Pipita bounced back and was simply magnificent in the double-header against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League Round of 16. The Argentinian scored three goals and provided an assist in the two games and proved decisive for Juve’s qualification, despite missing a penalty in the firstleg, which reminded everyone that you just can’t be sure what will happen with him.

In recent weeks, Higuain’s form has dropped once again, as the Juve superstar looked tired and off the pace in some games and his terrible miss against Crotone on Wednesday might worry the Bianconeri faithful right before the critical clash with the Partenopei. The mistakes of the Old Lady against Crotone might become very costly at the end of the campaign, as even if Juve avoid defeat against Napoli, Max Allegri’s men will still have to face Roma and Inter away from home in the remaining rounds.

Napoli fans will undoubtedly hope that their former hero will not show up against their team, as since joining Juventus, they have been one of Higuain’s favorite victims. The striker has scored five goals in five games against his former employers and has become a real nightmare for Pepe Reina and co.

This year however, the air in Naples is different and the tifosi feel that this might be the season in which Maurizio Sarri’s men will end the Juventus domination. Napoli’s incredible comeback against Udinese will undoubtedly boost the team’s confidence and Juve’s slip-up against Crotone surely puts more pressure on the champions. Narrowing the gap with their arch rivals to just four points with just five games until the end of the season gives Napoli a real chance to upset the odds and win the so sought-after Scudetto.

It’s true that Juventus are so strong because they usually perform at their best under pressure, but an uncharacteristically leaky defence, as well as the bitter Champions League exit will definitely play their part on Sunday.

Despite that, Juve have conceded just four Serie A goals in 2018, and all of them came in their last four games. The 3-0 home defeat against Real Madrid also shows that currently the Allianz Juventus Stadium is not the fortress that it used to be, so Napoli will come into the game knowing that they have a real chance of winning.

It’s clear that this Juventus team is very different to previous years, as the Bianconeri’s biggest strength this season has been their ability perform just when nobody is expecting them to. This was the case in the second legs against Tottenham and Real Madrid and this might well prove to be the case against Napoli on Sunday.

Maybe Higuain’s nature is heavily influencing his team this season, or perhaps the multiple injuries, Allegri’s rotation and the constant changes are damaging the team more heavily than in previous terms.

And while Napoli will have the full belief that they can finally end their Juventus hoodo and emerge victorious, deep down everyone in Naples is afraid of the prospect of facing their former star. Because that’s the thing with Higuain, he always finds a way to surprise us and nobody knows which version of Pipita will step on the field on Sunday.

There is a strange mix of talk here. One being hes not a top 3 striker. Ok thats probably true. The other being to offload him and get 50 mil. And get who?Suarez? Possibly if Barca get someone big. Lewa? Not a chance. everyone else is much worse than him or a ridiculous amount more. What do we expect to get for 50? Some diamond in the ruff?

I hate him as well I was just naming forwards that they talked about being more ruthless. My point was that there are few better and 50 mil wont put a dent into any of their transfer fees. Why not keep Higgy and get SMS or POGBA or a player that we could get for around 100 if we actually had 100 plus higuain money to spend which is what it will take to get a better forward

I would take those. Not saying hes the best but buying a top guy is oretty hard for us. Cavani could be good. Morata would be awesome here but I would like him at least for one season as a Mandzukic replacement. Play out wid but also in the middle. If hes proves his worth we can get rig of higgy or make Higgy a backup
