Still not as embarrassing. The context of it being Europa League, the final in our stadium, and 102 points makes me cringe to even think about it now.
After the Galatasaray match I was done with Europe for the remaining games of the year, that's how much frustrating that game was. Doing good in Europa League was a bonus, my cup care was empty after being thrown out by Benfica. Sure, it was disappointing since the final was in our home but not comparable imo.

As soon as that match was delayed by snow, and with the shit form we had shown in the group already I had feeling we would choke. Against Benfica, with a very good history in Europa/secondary European cup I was sure we would rise to the occasion especially with the final in Our stadium and us being twice the side, losing it was fucking mortifying.

Guy has a serious mental block.

I have seen him do the same $hit for too many years now.

Every time he scores its because he is playing on his instincts, but In big games he overthinks too much, and end up being predictable. It has happened way too many times.

Can we hire a psychologist for him or something?

this is a mental problem 100% , because the skill-set is clearly there.

Any time he has a moment or two to think about his finish he goes full retard trying to place the ball and basically taps it wide or passes it to the keeper. He might be the best striker in football as far as instinctive finishing goes, but the way he bottled almost every chance where he has time and space is appalling.

The annoying thing is: he did everything in that match perfect: hold up play was brilliant, passing to our flanks, link up play. defensive contribution, movement. But the one thing he actually should be doing with ease, he fu#ks up.

He needs help. I was thinking it was just a bunch of random events that lead to him being called a "chocker", but there is clearly something in his mind disturbing him in these games.

Perhaps if we castrated him, turned him into a Eunuch he would have nerves of steel. :boh:

One thing is for sure, we need the guy to fu#king score against top teams. So whatever the solution, pay for it and fix it.

Hire a specialist in sport psychology and pay him to work with him constantly.

The guy seems completely paralyzed when it really matters. Weirdest phenomena I have seen in sports for some time.

Yeah, all the fat jokes all the time

yet what centreforward can run/sprint so much for each and every game without seemingly losing a bit of fat ?
I wonder that too.

The thing here is that Higuain is known to have these misses. Some call him the big game choker after the world cup, also i think he missed some sitter when Napoli lost in playoff CL couple of years ago. Its a common theme in his career really. It was known already before we signed him. No surprise there.

However i wouldnt say he is useless even if he doesnt score always, his movement is good and works for the team. And when Dybala is there as the big game player, its not the end of the world. Bigger issue i can see is something like CL final and penalty shootout, you know he will be in the list. But he has bad records with those also.
