People didn't realize the market for top players is jumping this year. For years average players have been getting more and more expensive, closer to top players, as 2nd tier clubs get more and more desperate to catch those at the top, and 3rd tier clubs get desperate to catch 2nd tier clubs. You see ridiculous fees for very average players, but the cost of the very elite hasn't really spiked post-Cristiano for various reasons. In part because no real transcendent talent had appeared in the market the likes of him and Messi in some time.

But we're going to start seeing it now. This summer with Pogba on the market and after crazy bonus-laden deals for players like Martial and Sanches... Fees are about to go through the roof. Deals like ours for Higuain won't look so overpriced come next summer imo.
