Just realized Dzeko and Higuain numbers are pretty similar. Since 2016 when both moved to Roma and Juve respectfully.I think Dzeko has more goals in CL though.

Then u realize Dzeko cost 15m. And i know his first season at Roma wasnt great but he came from different league. Higuain has banged them in Napoli for years.

We spent 90m to win another scudetto we managed to win before. With less spent.

Dzeko scored close to 40 goals last season, this season he could reach 30. both times he scored 8 in CL/EL. definitely outperformed Higuain last 2 years

If this is true - Would you swap Higuain for Morata? (straight swap)
I mean - Higuain is clearly the better player but:
1. Higuain is old and in a constant decline
2. Higuain is very heavy which made him look non existent against top teams (see our games vs Real and Barcelona for example)
Old?

Definitely some big chunk of the millions we paid for higgy were wasted
With 1 CL final and a good CL run since then, and 2 scudetti, it's not a transfer that was ever hurting us. Stop losing sleep over that money that's not even yours and just enjoy the wonderful players we're having.

If we sell Higgy, it's gonna be extremely difficult to replace him. Strikers like that don't come around too often.

I hope we keep him and that we rather focus on adding to the areas in the team that are in serious need of rebuilding. Midfield and fullbacks should be our priority. CB is OK, with Caldara coming in.

It's the right time to sell Higuain from a financial pov. We can't afford to let every top player retire here. We sold players in their late 20s/early 30s in 90s and 80s too.

But from a sporting pov, can't think of a better or as good an alternative to Pipita in the market. Likely, we've to revisit the question of selling Higuain again next year.

And he finally got in shape. Couldn't get in shape for us in two years but managed to right before the WC lol. That's why he has been lacking in energy lately. You don't have any when you're cutting. He might have his best season with us next year unless he gains weight again after the WC.

Till he chokes in CL again when it matters.

Seriously, though. Who out there, who we could realistically target and attain, would be an upgrade over Higuain?`

Don't say Suarez, he's never coming here.
Liverpool broke CL goalscoring record this season with Firmino-Mane-Salah.

https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2554546.html

Salah cost Pool only 35m euros. Of course Klopp and Allegri styles are very different but point is, there are more ways you can fix this. Pool doesnt even play traditional targetman and they are breaking goalscoring records in CL and epl also Salah just broke some record.

Its about making smart deals.

In history this will look so bad. We have a player in top 5 spent and we didnt win shit in europe.

Suarez could be quite realistic actually. Where will he go then? Barca might need to move him on for financial fair play cause of the expensive signings made and Griezzmann added.

Dont give me some bs excuse now that Chiellini and Suarez wont get along or smth.

Dzeko wouldn’t score as many goal here. There’s a reason Higuain is nowhere near his Napoli numbers and it’s not all about him declining.
Higuain scored 17 and 18 in his 1st 2 seasons at Napoli, while being their no.1 PK taker (8 of it came from PKs, Dzeko doesent take them for Roma). it was only his 3rd season that he scored so much, and that after his assist numbers dropped down significantly. he also couldnt score for shit in other competitions other than Serie A that year

And Liverpool are nowhere near a relevant team. Please don’t compare us to a team which has to choose Europe over league, cause they aren’t strong enough to compete for both. That’s what teams like Napoli and Dortmund have to do.

CL has to be a huge priority at this stage. Think most here wouldnt mind losing scudetto IF it would mean winning the CL. Of course with our luck in the finals we could be empty handed.

And yeah Liverpool arent relevant cause they have 5 titles. We have 2.

Madrid have won like 2 league titles in 10 years.

Of course the CL is what we’re missing, but it’s not like we haven’t been near at having a shot winning that trophy. It’s funny how people overrate a team like Liverpool because they play “attractive football”, but people forget that they not at a European top class level yet. When they start winning the league and are a serious contender for the CL, we can talk.

Pool havent won league in 30 years or smth.

They might win CL this season. The 2005 Pool was hardly amazing either. Milan was clearly better team on paper. Didnt matter though.

We will see in the final. Real has the refs unfortunately.

And like i said Madrid have won like 2 league titles in 10 years. But they are dominating in CL.

All the other big teams around have won it last 10 years. We havent. Credibility reasons already. We fkn need to win it. Otherwise it will also become a case of next gen players will actually move on and we wont see the loyalty we saw with players like Buffon. Buffon could have gone to Milan after 2006 and won CL 2007.
