Yes im just picking on you for no reason :howler: youve always been an ardent higuain supporter who has never doubted him or called for him to be benched by mandzukic who is finished as a cf
Needing to be benched for poor form = a doubter now?

He is simply unbencheable for us. Choker or not... he is a goalscoring machine on his day, and thats enough to use him.

We have mandzukic, but mandzukic spends most of his energy supporting the team defensively.. and what i want t ask for a 9 is to be a goal treat, not an extra defender. Higuain scores for fun , and i would gladly take the risk of using an off form higuain, knowing that he can score anytime given the chance.

No he didnt need to be benched. He was low on confidence what he needed was belief in him and more playing time to rebuild his confidence. Hes not going to get that from the bench, hes not going to score from the bench. I said it, other reasonable members said it, allegri said it.

But no, you werent wrong when he played through it regained form in other aspecrs of play and now looks to have regained his scoring form as well. You are never wrong.

He hasn't been bad in the CL has he? All the doubt surrounding Higuain is about his choking in finals and not scoring when the going gets the tough. That's where it comes from.

I mean, for a striker as good as Higuain, it is amazing the sitters he misses. How many more goals could he have scored if that weren't the case? I can't remember Trezeguet or Inzaghi missing the kind of opportunities Higuain has.
Yeah, that’s what I meant by the “curse”. As I’ve said before it’s clearly not lack of talent, he’s always been a very good goal scoring striker. His career could look so much more glorious if he hasn’t the history of missing sitters at the most crucial moments.

I’d love to see us getting to another final and seeing him score the winning goal or just putting on an unforgettable performance, goal or not. Until he does something extraordinary that leads to a major title he can never be mentioned on the same level of someone like Batistuta. I’ll never forget how he led Argentina to victory in 91’, that’s the kind of stuff you expect a forward to do.

I think underperforming and missing easy goals in 3 finals in a row for Argentina has sealed his fate regarding being a national hero, he’s actually somewhat hated there. But doesn’t mean he can’t still be the hero WE need.

One of the main reasons why I never liked Higuain or Matri (for exemple) and I have a great appreciation for players that a lot of you guys would call scumbags such as Suarez, Neymar or even :chin: is that, the :chin:'s and Suarez's got A LOT of will power and will force shit to go their way, for exemple Suarez's GK efforts in WC was beautiful :touched: or :chin: genuinly believing he's the second coming of baggio and shooting like a retard and still not slowing down.
While the likes of Matri, Higuain and even Messi are soft as fuck, and tend to crumble when shit don't go their wait, matri a lot less then the two argies to be fair.

Oh boo hoo Higuain was low on confidence. Guy is paid a hell of a lot of money to produce regularly. He wasn’t and needed a reality check. He got one, remember? And do you remember what happened the game he was benched? He came on and scored with a renewed hunger he wasn’t showing prior.

According to you a game or two starting from the bench equals doubting him as a player

My proof is in that substitution and the goal that followed. Case closed

I doubt Gonzalo has an athlete's competitive nature, his talents got him where he is.

But by God, I sure as hell hope he blows up this CL season and beats the record of most goal scored in a single CL campaign and smashes 4 goals in finals vs Madrid

Why was Higuain cut from the NT and Icardi brought in? Because one was producing the other not. It’s obvious to all he will get his place back in the NT soon enough.

Point is, two different coaches related to Higuain saw a deficiency. One cut him from the team altogether and the other simply showed him that he wasn’t above being benched. But what do they know, right?

As a result since the last international break when we saw pictures of him training alone to get fit we have all seen a noticeable difference in his work rate, have we not? We have seen added praise from Allegri for his gung-ho attitude on the field helping out have we not?

He needed an ass kicking when his confidence was shot and he got exactly that. Now you see the reaction. That’s what world class professionals do. They get the fuck on with it.

I haven't seen @Jem83 posting lately. Hope he's good. His boy is banging goals again.
He has been posting less because of the vitriol on the forum lately. Said it isn’t the same place it used to be. Still reads it though but prefers to post less.

I don't blame him to be honest. The old timers are posting less and less...
