What is Borussia Dortmund's turnover?
Remember Shevshenko and Rebrov's dynamo kiev ? that team was better then dortmund is today, since shevshenko >>>>>> lewandowski+gotze.
Once in a decade these teams got an excellent generation, and manage to keep it togheter before its plucked away by the bigger teams.
However, we want to become consistant performers. Like bayern, madrid, barca currently getting semi's or further for 3 years now.
How far are we away from that ?

First, you need a finished starting 11. Dortmund had that, but no bench. We dont have it. We got the best defence in the world, quality wingbacks, very high quality central mifield, and then it ends. We dont have a finisher to say the least. We dont have an excellent targetman or creative supportstriker.
Vucinic is good enough on his wonderdays, but there is a 1 in 5 chance of that happening.
So, we need Llorente, excellent. Then we need Jovetic or Higuain. Then our starting 11 is done.

Second, you have players aging. Pirlo, Barzagli, will have to be looked for future replacement next year. This is another year. This second step finishes when you have a starting 11 thats solid in every position, and doesnt need direct future attention.

The third and final step is the diffrence makers on the bench. Yeah, pado, giac, peluso, they are excellent for the league. But, the reason madrid, barca and bayeren are making semi finals each year, is because the diffrencemakers on the bench

The first two steps are done before 2015. The third step, thats why you need that big turnover. To be able to change, challenge, adapt, you need quality diffrencemakers on the bench, able to replace an injury or suspension, without real loss of decisive power in cupgames.

Back when serie a was fantastic, every topteam had like what 5 high quality forwards, and an excellent younger talent. Thats how you win stuff. But to be able to do this, first we do step one and two. and when we are 360+mil turnover, we can think about step 3.

While on step 1 or 2, we can have good campaigns, be an outsider like dortmund. But it takes step 3 to be considered a genuine championsleague contender, like madrid, barca and bayern and actually man utd were this year.

Their wage bill is lower than Aston Villa's.
after this summer, it will be even better !

At the end of the day, with a little luck and couple of decisions in our favor, we could win the CL whether we have 400 mill turnover, or 2 mill.
Exactly, but thats the luck that you see once in a decade or two

Undoubtably Bayern were Europes elite this season. Dortmund wasn't far off them & caused them all sorts of problems at times in that final. Overall Bayern deserved it. You're really underestimating how well we actually did this season considering we're 3-4 players short of a quality European club. Would love to see what club would come back from the shiit we've had in such a short space of time and be where we are now.
yep, referring the the explenation above, we arent even done with the first step.

I really feel we could have done a lot better against Bayern, if Conte didn't approach the game with this loser mentality. It really rustled my jimmies.:(
I hope you arent serious

we reached quarter finals playing pretty bad footaball in most matches (note i'm not talking "attractivness" just some weird tactics)

with a couple of good signings and more tactical flexibility from conte, the aim should be cl semi finals
The good signings are step 1.

Flexibility, largely depends on the players you got. Out biggest issue is the frontline.

Good post but dont write off dortmund just yet.they are a growing club, their revenue has increased in leaps and bounds and actually have money to spend now.
they cud still surprise ppl despite losing their 2 best players this term.

My guy at City told me Pellegrini has spoken to Higuain and is interested in taking him to City if he decides to leave Madrid, Marotta was informed of this on his trip to Madrid hence why we're now seeing an acceleration towards Jovetic.
Ahh well, it would be a good move for his bank account, at least.

I'm not so sure about that.

Dortmund has a very specific counterattacking tactic with players behind the ball.

To do this, they got good defenders, and hard workers on the flank like reus and blaczsziakowski. But what really makes it gell, are gotze and lewandowski.

they connect the team, they make it possible for reus and blaz to be that good.

take those two away, and suddenly, the team is completely deprived of creative genious bar Reus. and you cannot build a team around just a wide midfielder. and he's not the same in the center.

And, what if the epl snatches up reus ? then its entirely done.

They will have to reinvent themselves, and it wont be half as good as the impressive team they had this year.

Wanna know a simular situation ? NAPOLI. Take away lavezzi, fine, he was a feeding player. Take away hamsic? fine just replace with any creative player.

Take away cavani and the team is fucked. they will have to play entirely diffrent because a lone striker with the qualities of cavani made their tactic work. and they cant replace it with a simular player cause no one that is simular to cavani in style, that they can get, is nearly as good.

Now the thing is, without cavani, napoli still got quality. benitez can re invent them. its ok

But dortmund, just lost all their genious, and it will be much harder to rebuild

Doubt it. Those two players are like gold dust to find again in such a short space of time.

Dortmund are fucked.

They'll definitely feel the absence of Goetze and Lewandowski. They won't reach the semi-finals of the CL next season. I'd go as far as saying they won't reach the QFs.

They'll continue to be raided this summer.

So last when week when we supposdely struck a deal with Higuain and Higuain's brother they actually told us to fuck off because they're going to Manchester City.

Oh god. What did Fali Ramadani actually tell us. :scared:

Way higher, as he is intermediary of this deal. He knows everything about it. If he says there is a fair chance, then that's not bullshit from a journalist.

But to contradict myself, I remember him saying the same thing about Aguero, but without the percentages.

We probably were quite far down the line with Agüero. Then City came in and it ended.
