Well, why would we want to pay for a player we can't even buy because of (very stupid) non-EU limit? I think the money was there; in the end we used that money to buy Motta, Pepe, Quag, and Matri.
There's a difference between spending that money on 4-5 players or on just one. We couldn't afford to spend all that money on one single player.

Only two of those are playing for real. Motta is going to be gifted away, Pepe hopefully with him - which leaves us with a 15m EU gap because we got quantity over quality.

I don't think that's a problem so much with policy though. With the amount of money we spent we could have gotten better players, we just didn't.

Not with policy, just quite sloppy work from our GM. I mean, collectively we spent ca. 30m on Quags and Matri. For 30m we could have gotten 1 classy striker, instead of two good ones. But the signing of Matri can't really be viewed in that light as it was quite the desperate purchase. You get my point though

You should still take our situation and what we can offer in wages, into consideration.

I don't know how I would feel about Higuain really...he is a good player! But is he really as good as he seems?! He goalscoring record in Madrid is very impressive, but look at who his opponents are and look at his teammates. He has some of the best playmakers feeding him the ball up against some teams that have some rather weak defending I wouldn't be surprised if Quag or Matri score 20+ goals with teammates like Ozil, Di Maria, Kaka and Xabi. I'm not saying La Liga sucks or anything but what I am saying is that their defensive capabilities aren't on par with Serie A or EPL and on top of that Madrid are a HUGE superpower! So it would be normal that Higuain scores as much. And he wasn't exactly impressive in CL, he was good...but not impressive. Benzema was impressive and he was the main striker Mourinho used in CL.

Either ways he would still be a fantastic aquisition but personally I'd look else where....Balo maybe? :p
