Matri really isn't that suited to playing as a lone striker, I don't think.

He's willing to try to do more, but he's basically a poacher who can do a little bit extra. Certainly not anything approaching the sort of rounded striker I would look to play in a 4-3-3.
I agree. Higuain would be very much the best option we could hope to get for the lone striker role in a 4-3-3.

Now, we'd need an upgrade on Pepe like Giovinco for example. Imagine:

Giovinco-Higuain-Vucinic

That would be awesome.

Matri is a counter attacking poacher, that was what he excelled at Cagliari, and only redeeming factor I considered of him last January when we overpaid for him, that he would come with a much needed burst of pace on the break. But to say the least, unlike last seasons 2nd half he was with us, this lone striker role requires more of him that he is too limited to handle. If he isnt playing with Vucinic especially.

4-3-3 is one of the kind of formations that actually demans the lone forward to be near the complete forward, Batistuta/Drogba/Zlatan/Eto'o comes to mind.

Obviously Barcelona is the exception to the rule.
Yup.

If Juve want to compete at a high level playing 4-3-3, they need to get themselves an excellent CF as soon as possible.

Pepe doesn't defend that well and I'm sure Giovinco could work just as hard. It could work.
I've always had the impression that he can get brushed aside quite easily when defending.

I also think he's the kind of player who drift out of games when things aren't going his way.

People trying to talk down Pepe's hard work and defensive contribution in order to convince themselves Giovinco can take his place without unbalancing the team.

Pirlo has been poor at taking free kicks for about 2-3 years, he has lost his power in shots it seems. He used to be amazing in that department back in 2003-2008 but now he is below par.

Giovinco, on the other hand, is a very good free kick taker.
I'm struggling to find more than decent free kick tackers in recent times, back then you would have people like Beckham/Juninho/Mijhailovic/Roberto Carlos/DP/Pirlo etc that could almost always take a good free kick but that trend seems to be slowly disappearing. Dunno if it's that the players just don't bother anymore or if it's an issue with the new balls.

I want to hear their output when they start slacking in the defensive department and concede a higher amount of goals/lose dominance in the games.

People here find it quite easy to board the Pepe hate train but players like him are vital for a team's proper functioning.

He reminds me of Ramires in some ways.

It's a known fact that I love Pepedinho but he's being overrated now.

It has nothing to do with the new balls imo, just look at Del Piero in the last 3-4 years, he has scored very much as often on set pieces as before(except this year perhaps because he doesn't play much).

There is indeed a decrease in quality of footballers. The current crop of top players is not even remotely close to what we had 10 years ago, bar Messi and Ronaldo.
