Alright, now I know it may be a bit obvious for me to do this but, I've got to show you all something that interests me quite a bit. Goal.com is doing some polls to determine the best player of the year, the best goalkeeper, etc. Notice anything interesting about the poll?

    Buffon is there..?
Nope. A certain former Juventus goalkeeper happens to be among the running. One who was much maligned after his departure...

I'd have thought Petr Cech might warrant a place given chelsea's defensive record, Anti Niemi, Shay Given etc are all quality keepers.

Kahn, Toldo, and van der Sar have absolutely no reason to be on that list.

They should be replaced by Cech, Victor Valdes, and Frey IMO.

Naah.. I probably wouldn't put Frey ATM.

    Maybe De Sanctis.

Of the five choices on that list, Van der Sar is the one who has provided the best displays in recent months. Furthermore, VDS has done far more and better than the others for his national team. I'm not trying to say that Edwin is the best keeper in the world, but at least there are those who consider him to be among the best. And he is the in-form keeper of the bunch.

As for who really should be on the list, I'd say Cech and Valdes certainly deserve it. My vote for best keeper in the world at the moment: Timo Hildebrand.

van der Sar is a fairly good keeper, but not one of the top five in the world. I also do not concur with your statement that VDS is the most on-form keeper in the world; far off the mark.
