It's become much easier for the average person in this world, not to work and do something productive. Get onto some government program and be a sheep for the rest of their existence, than actually struggle fight, maybe fail a few times and have to earn a living.

I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.

I definitely hear you on the getting rid of Dept of Ed bro. Too many kids these days just throwing away a free lunch only to further drain the system with adding to an ever growing pile of student loans. But at least you can trade 'em AAA.

It's ~33% at the first ~400k for a married couple IIRC Then 35% over that ammount. The Social tax cut off point is ~100k? You have to analyse their cumulative contributions.
The riches money is in fixed assets not direct wage income, to which the capital gains rate applies in most cases, a Tax and an Income Tax can have the same effect but be completely different, A wealth tax if you will.

In contrast a better argument could be made by examining the standards of living or the movement throughout classes of people in different nations with different levels of social programs. Probably a bit more convincing than drawing from the words of a man that grew up during a time when people were a commodity and savages lined the frontier.

I don't want to start an age war, but the fact that all these older conservatives hate our generation for being lazy and useless it completely absurd. They're the ones who raised us, they're the ones who brought the country towards the brink of extinction, they're the imbeciles who didn't have a problem with anything as long as an asset bubble was in place to cushion their spending. Well, sorry, fucktards, but maybe death panels aren't such a bad idea after all...
