Quiet in this thread. Not our biggest problem obviously but has he done anything to improve our defense?

I mean, cashing in on MDL really didn’t move the needle for our squad in the right direction

Too bad we couldn’t have had him and MDL together

we still have to start bonucci unfortunately

if it was bremer and danilo in the middle and two proper fullbacks i'd be less worried. where are those fullbacks though

I wish we could have seen a Bremer-MDL partnership that would have given this lineup an actually spine IMO

After Villareal knockout last szn, the one thing I did not want to ever see again was Rugani start in a CL match for Jj. That was violated last week against the maccabees of Haifa. Now I am blessed again to have to watch him even more. textbook squad construction and management by Jj

Absolutely terrible squad building and planning from our directors this summer. One key defensive injury leaves us in a position where our alternatives are:

a) Playing a poor full back out of position
b) Starting Rugani
c) Starting a player who has only even played in serie B

And some people thought we had a good Mercato….

Things that coaches at big clubs often have to deal with and work around. Not everyone can be City and PSG with 2 starting 11s. What kind of quality did we dip into when BBC were injured or Licht/Asa? How many key players have Milan been missing and yet somehow coping without being a 100 points behind? We have never had two complete squads of top quality and always worked around some injuries when we dominated for a decade.

You're just seeing the gaps because nothing is really working neither starters nor the backups. Its not like with Bonucci and Bremer or even De Ligt before that we've been a fortress

Not at all, we had people like Caceres, Ogbonna and Benatia who could step in and play 15-20 games a season fairly comfortably. Also the BBC hardly got injured at that stage. The Asamoah back up was Sandro and then evra and the Lict back up (this man was made out of granite and had 4 lungs) was Cuadrado. To come into this season relying on a 35 year old injury prone Bonucci to be a starter is a kamikaze move. When he now inevitably picks up an injury we’ll be starting Danilo and Rugani at CB. It’s terrible squad planning.

Id love 2 starting 11s, but I’d gladly take a second 11 that isn’t totally incompetent

Ogbonna

Benatia was always injured and didnt spend much time with us anyway. Cacares was a multi-position player kinda like Danilo is right now. Rugani has actually been around the longest.

Point still stands our bench nor the bench of any of our competitors especially in Serie A have any quality. Yet we are levels below everyone else and thats not because Napoli and Atalnata's 2nd and 3rd CB options are greater players than Rugani
