Lol you tell me, They left Sneijder out :disagree: How big of a joke are they making themself. But if somebody can win it twice in a row then it's Messi.
Well apparently a treble and World Cup Final app don't count for much. Can't wait till Chiellini wins the Ballon d'or

why Messi? Dribbling past 4 defenders and going for the shot instead of passing it to your teammate who is 3 meters from you and can have a clear shot on goal is Ballon d'Or material? Messi who hasn't scored a single goal in the WC? Or Messi the choker against Inter? If CR had a nicer personality people wouldn't give a dipshit about Messi, it's just the general opinion that's against CR

Robben should've been included first of all, his performance was above Sneijder's. Still Xavi should win it.

You aren't serious about the Messi part, are you?

I don't dislike Messi, he's just slightly frustating, I'm honest about it. He was enjoyable before the media hype around him in 2009, after the WC he has had a nonexistend vision for his unmarked teammates, dribbling past defenders and taking shots while being surrounded by defenders instead of passing it towards an unmarked teammate doesn't sound like Ballon d'Or material for me. Look at the Real and Copenhagen games, those are two great examples, I'm not labeling him based on those two (recent) matches, but if he continues with this trend, I think some people start disliking him. The one's who disliked CR always have something to say about his behaviour, well Messi's behaviour these days with his selfishness and greedy scorer isn't that different from CR's arrogance.

@Gian

Were we watching the same game against Madrid? Because if I recall correctly, he was giving in killer passes. Most notably the 4th Villa goal. That was a wonderful assist.

He did that a lot during the WC, especially during the Nigeria & Germany games.

I saw some pieces of the game, was making some schoolwork at the same time but he did indeed gave a pass to Villa but my caught him most of the times when he didn't pass to his teammates. Look at the 1000% scoringchance against Copenhagen where he didn't pass. Messi has just become the same as CR, an arrogant prick, CR just took it to a whole new level off the pitch.

According to soccernet http://soccernet.espn.go.com/team/squad?id=83&cc=4716

He has the most assists between his teammates. I get your point but they rely on him to score now, and if you want to create a monster then it comes with some cons as well. Hes no longer only a winger or a supplier, the burden is on him now especially with Etoo gone.

And for the Ballon d'or, I agree with rab. Xavi should get it. Sneider has not been as consistent over the entire year imo (but hes not even there) and between the three Xavi has been out of this world.

Cool. The bet is an 1 week avatar. The winner choses the avatar for the other one.

I'm simply going with the circulating rumors that it's already known how Iniesta is the winner. Xavi second, Messi third. I have no idea how much truth there is to it, but I'll take it.
Also, there is Gazzetta's edition from the day before announcing the shortlist of three. To everyone's surprise they said how Sneijder didn't make the top 3 and how Iniesta is the winner.

Soon we will see if all this is just a joke or it will be proven that FIFA is the joke.

This is from December 5th Gazzetta. FIFA announced the shortlist on December 6th. Gazzetta already knew that Sneijder is out and they say that Iniesta wins it.
Great.

Oh and FIFA is a joke anyway, i never take there awards seriously, even if they do give it to Xavi with Messi as second, which is what i'd agree with, i still think they're a joke.

I agree!
Xavi is reportedly second in the Ballon d’Or vote, but admits “Wesley Sneijder should be in the top three.”
Rumours suggest it is an all-Barcelona podium for the Golden Ball trophy with Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Leo Messi.

“I know that in Italy they are angry because Sneijder is not among the finalists and I can agree with them,” confessed Xavi on Sport.es.

“The Dutch midfielder had a fantastic year.”

Sneijder won the Treble with Inter – Scudetto, Champions League and Coppa Italia – plus took Holland to the World Cup Final.

He was among the hot favourites when the long-list was announced, but has since plummeted down the standings.

Thx Xavi! Both Xavi and Iniesta said this, Fifa just makes me laugh... Pathetic!

I agree that statement was classy. However, this is a rarity, most statements taken from Xavi are quite arrogant, take the multitude of quotes regarding Fabregas for example.

I think the Fabregas statement was somehow normal. Any player is free to make any wish concerning what player he'd like to play with or which player he'd love to sign etc..
