Then you figure out what works for you. When Italy plays, I support Italy. When Germany plays, I support Germany. When they play each other, I cry. Very simple. I'm Neapolitan, Sicilian, Roman, Barese, and Calabrese. That's 1/5th of goddamn Serie A, but here I am on a Juventus forum. But once again, what does it matter who I support?
What's the point of international football then if you just pick a top team to support instead of your own?

We have a cricket team?

Do you support Canada? Actually do any of the Canadians here care at all for their NT because we have plenty of members from there but I've never seen it.
Obviously I root for Canada. I'll admit I follow the Azzurri team more, but that's because the players that are on the team are on Juventus or in Serie A, or Europe. However, following or not I still support Canada and always hope they do well.

Well I don't know your situation but I can't think of a single Canadian here who mentioned anything about them during the Gold Cup.

Where were you in the Water Polo World Cup thread, huh?

Okay, I'm half joking. But it's not all about supporting your country, is it? It's about the football too.

It's funny how Alen criticises the Italian-Americans for cheering for Italy and loving the Azzurri players and not supporting the US.

Here in Australia the "Croatians" here do the exact same thing! They all support Croatia, wear the jerseys, sing the chants and hate the Australian NT. Just goes to show that this sort of behaviour isn't strictly limited to people of Italian descent.

And we have had it just as bad as the US in terms of players being born in our country, playing for and attending the AIS - The Australian Institute of Sport which is taxpayer funded - and then going on to represent the country of their parents. The majority of the defectors we've had recently went on to play for the Croatian NT.

/cool story
I was born and raised in Aus but was brought up for follow the Italian NT. Why would i change because Australia made the 2006 world cup. When the 2 nations played i happily supported the Azzuri. I don't actively hate the Aus National team I just don't support them. they're the same as Germany, India, Japan, Argentina or any other national team. That being said i do feel a sence of pride when Australian players do well and go on to play for big teams.

In terms of Juve I'm proud that Juventus has supplied so many azzuri, but i'm equally as proud that they have supplied so many french players or any players that have become international regulars. I just want Juve to have the best players regardless of where they were born and which nation they decide to represent. Juventus is a team that plays in Italy - doesn't mean that we must have only Italians
