They are American, and Rossi considers himself American all but on the pitch.

Go join a fucking Manchowder forum.
Last time I checked his parents were Italians.

From Wiki (I know, it's not the most trust-worthy source but...)
Rossi was born to Italian immigrant parents in Teaneck, New Jersey; his father, Fernando Rossi
His father is Italian, his mother is Italian, the sperm he was created from is Italian and the pussy he got out of is Italian, it just happened by a chance that he popped out in an American hospital.
He has every fucking right to represent Italy, because he is an Italian born in America. If his parents weren't Italian, I'd be on your side of argument, I hate when players play for other nations, like Deco and Pepe do.

And I assume you have a problem with Brede Hangeland representing Norway instead of America. Another one, who just happened to be born in America despite not being American.

And oh what about Adu? He's Ghanian, do you like the fact that he plays for your national team?

Tip for you Nedved, you have better chances of engaging your nearest wall in the meaning of life, then getting through to Andy with the basic topic like heritage/origins and dual nationalities.

What Rossi says himself trumps whatever crap you wrote above. Rossi considers himself American. His words, not mine.

... as if Azzurri fans from anywhere but Italy are a sensical bunch.

There's a game right now?

Look at that support!

When you say Italy fans living outside of Italy, do you include people of Italian descent?

Rossi is a great player and I certainly prefer him to Quag, but the prices mentioned so far are ridiculous. This is his 1st stellar season where he has truly stood out. Had it been his 2nd or 3rd season with such stats, the price is fair, but right now I don't see how he is worth 30 - 35m euros. Benzema and Dzeko went for similar prices but that was after back to back seasons of greatness.

Americans get over it, its only football and it is just Rossi.
I don't see Africa getting upset because of the NBA.

Noticed that.

And do you hate Brede too?

I was born in NY, my mother is from Italy, I was raised as if I lived in Italy not America and even lived there and went to school there and when ever I go back on vacation I fit right in. I know the tradition, the slang, the attitude and all that and I fit right in, but do I consider myself More Italian than American? Yes, would I choose Italy over USA? No, because I was born and raised in this country just with a different tradition. But USA is a melting pot and there's so many different nationalities here so that's normal.

Rossi, like many other people I know, was born and raised in this country but decided to represent the country of his parents ( prob for sporting reasons ) and I, as an American, think that's pure disrespect to his home country. So many Hispanics here do the same thing, born, raised but for some reason represent their parents country with un-denying love BUT will not give any regard towards USA which is horrible.

Rossi, in Italy, is an American. Same like me. Only his parents or family would consider him Italian just like my family does for me but in Italy, he's " Il Americano " and that's the truth. Most Italians are hypocrites anyway do you think they'd care if Guberti played for San Marino? No, because he's trash. Most Old timers and Italians with strong pride don't even think Balotelli should play or represent Italy.

Club is club though, if Rossi interest is true then for a decent price he shouldn't be discriminated against.

Rossi is a traitor to the country that sheltered his family from poverty and starvation in their homeland and gave them opportunities for prosperity but at the end of the day its just a game. I understand and agree with what Andy is saying theoretically, but its just a game.
That has nothing to do with Rossi playing for Juventus.

Right, this is dull.

Rossi's nationality has no relevance as to whether he'd be a good signing for Juve.

Any further debate on nationality can be done in the Azzurri thread (http://forum.juventuz.com/showthread.php?30684-The-Official-Azzurri-Thread) or the US Soccer thread (http://forum.juventuz.com/showthread.php?16934-U.S.-Soccer).

This thread is for discussing the potential transfer of Rossi to Juventus.

Posts on the nationality argument will be deleted, with the potential for those posts being warned for being off-topic.
