OFFICIAL: Juve renew Chiellini & Barzagli
By Football Italia staff

Juventus have announced that defenders Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli have extended their contracts until 2020 and 2019 respectively.

Chiellini and Barzagli have made 743 combined appearances for Juve, as well as forming part of their 'BBBC’ backline, which has yielded seven straight Scudetti, four Coppa Italia and two Champions League Finals.

A statement on the Bianconeri’s official website reads: “Two of Juve’s 'Magnificent Five’ members to have won all seven Scudetto titles en route to becoming #MY7H, Chiellini and Barzagli have forged an extraordinary partnership across the Bianconeri backline over the years, making it one of the most formidable defences in European football.

“With both Chiello and Barza together on the pitch, Juventus have conceded just 0.7 goals and gained an impressive 2.3 points per game.

“On both counts, the Bianconeri have performed better compared to when at least one of them has been absent (0.8 goals conceded and 2.2 points per game).

“Juventus could not be happier to maintain the services of two men, who for so long have embodied the club’s #FinoAllaFine mindset. Here is hoping for further success for both players and the club starting next season.”

Chiellini has also been confirmed as the Old Lady’s captain next season following the departure of fellow veteran Gianluigi Buffon.

I wonder what Joseph Marotta has planned for the rest of this mercato. Hopefully SMS and the sale of a few of our fringe players, and players who can fetch us good fees who don’t play as often as they like.

Cmon Joseph, make us dream :beppe:

Someone here said Cavani wouldn't be an upgrade over Higuain...
a year ago, Cavani was a bum that only scores lots of goals because he plays in France. 2 years ago, he wasnt even a striker anymore, because he apparently forgot how to play CF since PSG moved him to the wing. this from a french guy who watches PSG regularly :touched:

Oldest player we signed in this transfer window is 25.

That tells you a lot about our strategy.

I think our directors are doing a great job. In two years time, we wont be looking at the end of an era, more like a new start.

There will be no Cavani type of signing. Expect Morata.

Maybe in defence we sign a 30+ years old player (Godin).

I think a lot depends on how negotiations with our players go after the holidays and WC are over. I think Higuain will go to Chelsea, so we'll get someone upfront, probably Morata.

looks like Sturaro is a goner and, seeing as Khedira doesn't want to move on, Marchisio might be going away too. all of Pjanic, Can, Khedira, Matuidi and Bentancur will want serious minutes next season, so I'd expect our 6th mid to be a project like Golovin or Praet. if Pjanič goes for big bucks, I think we go all in on SMS, not sure I want it to happen though.

I don't think Sami will want serious minutes. Well, most players do but I think he will be content playing less as we improve our midfield as long as he gets significant minutes in a sub role.
