Truth lies somewhere in the middle and this is certainly closest to it. We should have tried. I like our player chooses but we should make some exceptions. Especially for a player who was given a number 10. A number 10! The guy is 23 years old, surrounded by bad advisors. I think we should have tried. If we did then fair doos but by sounds of things we haven't because when we talk about it to the media we don't send out the right signals.
Look at how United blocked De Gea's sale, or how Inter are refusing to sell Icardi. I am not saying tie him down, but give him a reason to stay. Convince him. Brand united, or Brand Madrid will be there for him in 2-3 years anyway. I mean, it would make more sense for him to move in 2018, after he actually performs in a major tournament.
I am just supremely pissed. I am too emotionally invested in this. I will probably calm down once I see the replacements, and if we make it far in the CL, and win the double again, all will be forgotten. However, I will be watching United and Pogba closely, and hoping they fail miserably, so I can rub it in my dad's face 
But if he wouldn't fucking guarantee those minimum 2 years, we should never have sold Vidal, and should have sold Pogba last summer instead.

Replacement midfielder(s) < Pogba
Pjaca and Gabigol (assuming he arrives) are unknown quantities, at least to me, but certainly seem to be good prospects.
All in all I think the squad will be stronger, depending on who we get to replace Pogba.
