not sure if srs. 3+22 is a shit load of money. all you are doing is delaying the payment, which means we still wont persue high profile targets.

however i will give him props for getting a good lb, IF he gets him

In one year LB will become the pressing issue that AM is now. And by going 3+22 he secures one today but he pays for him when we would have badly needed an LB anyway, 2016

i am not disagreeing that lb is a pressing issue, but this is not a good deal. it is mearly a standard deal

put it this way, if sandro was playing for udinese and we got him say last year for 3m co own and option set at 22, no one here would have considered it a coup.

i still dont know what you to prove here.

the price to me is not a good deal. think if it this way. if u go and pay $450 dollars for a ps4. that is not a good deal. that is the normal price. now if there was a sale or a closing down and u got it for 350 or even 400, then that is a good deal. th quality of of PS4 is not the issue here

same with sandro. we need a lb, and marotta has done his job by (possibly) getting a very good one. but the price is nothing to praise, as that is basically what his asking price is

I think what he needs to be given credit for is the fact (or hopefully the soon to be fact) that he has addressed a position of need that has been ongoing for 5 + years with a young, quality, fullback. At a price that is at either market value or slightly above, and beat out competition to his signature.

The price is nowhere close to a bargain, but then again people shouldn't complain one minute when he doesn't want to meet a value for a quality player, but then get on him if he does, or exceeds it, in order to get the player that he really wants, that he and the management are secure in their beliefs of that player.

Im glad he wasn't pressured into chalking up that much money on a random LB last year and instead took a gamble on a "washed up Evra" and waited a year.

And what happened? He landed one of the best LBs in Europe. That's what happened.

Took a gamble last year and it paid off for us.

Quality SD we have folks whether you admit it or not.

Beppe should be praised for this deal, but not for the transfer fee, even if I have no problem with overpaying from time to time if it is on proven quality.

Nah, not me. At least not anymore. @jakku7 I guess.
Yup. I used to watch dozen of BVB games per season.

As for Armenian... I don't think he is Juve material, as his biggest problem is very poor end product and resistance to stress. He can't shine in huge games, simply because he is not mentally prepared to be a leader. His technique is very good, he is relatively fast player and combination of this abilities makes him very usable in couterattacks.

To be frank, I doubt BVB let him go now. He was named the best Budesliga player in first round of games in ongoing season, new coach believes in him very hard and I just do not see this happening. On the other hand, I don't think Mkhitaryan has it what it takes to play with success in our jersey. We just need another type of AMF.

Hust, you are talking like that was always part of the plan? You're forgetting we almost nearly signed Siqueira who is far from a long term solution for that spot. We identified Sandro, yes, but we weren't willing to pay the asking price that Porto wanted from the get go, and in all probability came back and paid what they had wanted in th first place, when we realised the player was not renewing with the club and seeing how the market was locked up on our other targets.

Point being, this move did no happen 'as was planned' because the market is fluid and you've always got to move with the dynamics to find your footing, and so far that's where we are. What Beppe deserves credit for, is making this move decisively. Certainly, not a bargain by any means, but that is relative in these times, and of little consequence if you are after players of a certain quality. I don't hold it against the management if people think we 'overpaid', because we have managed to secure our optimum target for that position.

Absolutely. Transfer fee and overpaying by 5m is of little consequence when looking at the quality and the circumstances at hand. Darmian went for 20m. Sandro is worth the same if not more, so I think us being short changed by 5m to get our first option for lb is perfectly fine and within reasonable limits.
