It was not Conte's fault that Marotta was failing each and every year to bring an LB, so he could never field a four man defence, without a freakin left flank...
It was not Conte's fault that Marotta was waiting Llorente's contract to expire for 3 years and up untill then, the team had not the tactical option of a CF and had to use either one of the growing collection of the multiple SSs we had, or crippled players like Borriello, Anelka and Bendtner...
Conte is a daredevil, he will not hesitate to call it as he sees it.
Between us and the greatest European clubs that we face in the CL, there is a huge different of quality. The difference is there, and is huge enough to become noticable regardless of what our coach says.
At his time, as a player, there was a difference, but not thaaaat big, to narrow the gap, we should improve the quality of our starter eleven,
we could not do that within a year, because we are not as wealthy as Man City, or PSG, they were bellow us and they are now suddenly above us.
So our only chance was to build slowly, but surely, making a couple of additions per year. Narrow the quality gap and improve our chances.
Our squad, under Conte, was strong enough to win the league with ease, at record breaking manner.
Conte has been asking for 2 years that the budget should not be wasted around, any longer, in squad players, a couple of 5mil minions, like Peluso and Padoin, the occassional free agent, with youngsters fillers are enough for depth and we should use our budget on one or two starters.
Buying 3 15mil player, instead of one 35mil one would lead us to nowhere near closer to the most competitive CL clubs.
Wes hould stop wasting time and give the club a chance to compete in the CL!
Marotta cannot sign prestigious players though, never did in his life, never will.
So Conte tried to corner the club's board, the ones who hired MArotta and refuse to hire a more suited successor,
by making those demands public, so that the board would comply by sanctioning 30mil acquisitions and hire a proper transfer director, who could approach the most prestigious players and agents.
He believed that the board would be pressured by the crowd to choose his path, because he was prooved to be the most valuable asset we had since calciopoli, the man who singlehandely has transformed our team, from a #7 place mediocrity, to unchallenged champions. Apart from that, Conte is one of us, he is a part of our most glorious history and he has made many personal sacrifices, right after he ebcame the most succesfull coach in the peninsula and the alliance of our enemies have fabricated means to ut him on trial.
It was still a considerable risk, as history has proven before, that the board never intended to make Juventus as big as it was before Calciopoli, the selection of the stadium capacity, the selection of unproven transfer directors and coaches speak by themselves. And clear example of them all, DD, yet another club legend, who has guided our club from serie B, back to serie A, he was axed for this very reason, he priorised quality over quantity, performance over nationalism and spectacle and he had to bite the bullet.
Conte's sacrifice must not go in vain, we must not pretend this was yet another coincidence and lie to our selves anymore, the board does not wants us to become the powerhouse we once been and they have imposed MArotta as handicap, exactly for that. MArotta is just a tool, he is honest and limited, he can only go that far, the choice to keep him, means a lot!
We should either accept it and stop having delusional CL aspirations, (the reason Conte has been constantly bitching about the lack of quality that have no intention to improve)
or fight with Conte, DD and any other Juventino who will stand up against the tyranny of the board!
