Quite a poor window all in all. A massive disappointment considering we were promised quality over quantity, and really we got neither.

Pirlo, Licht, Vidal, Vucinic were along the right lines, Elia was acceptable, but yet again we dont buy a proper leftback, CB or established winger and we fail to get rid of shit like Amauri, Toni, Grosso, Motta and Pepe. I'd give our Mercato all considered a 6/10. Even more disappointing when we were promised a 9

are you missing the point or purpose, or you not as sharp as before?
no matter if you like those players or not, the point is their positions on the field and the places we really needed to strengthen.
LW, LB and CB should be considered priorities and be served with the best material we could have signed, not leftovers after the budget allocation on yet another CM and SS...
i was directing my comment at someone who talked about those players specifically, or did you miss the point?

Explain what Marotta should have done to convince Amauri and Iaquinta to leave.
tie a piece of string to a wad of money and dragged it slowly towards the door...

the same thing he did to Melo?
yes paying a big pay off/paying the wages of a player no longer at our club would have been widely viewed as a positive move by everyone here

yeah, because paying money for nothing in return is always a smart move, right?

its kind of like the situation worth grosso last year. if we had terminated his contract and payed his remaining wages, we would have played many games without a left back! if we pay them we should at least have the possibility to use the player in case of a difficult injury crisis

What an underwhelming, yet almost expected considering our transfer manager, Mercato:

1 - We didn't sell most of our excess fat (Grosso, Amauri, Iaquinta, Pepe)
2 - We didn't buy a single WC player although we spent the third most money in the world
3 - We barely propped up our defence
4 - We were linked with top players, slowly shifting our interest to lesser and lesser players when our lack of negotiation abilities became evident, until we bought more or less the same quality players as those we already have, replacing like with like

All in all, our Mercato gets a 5/10 - the only positive transfers were Vucinic, Vidal, Lich and Pirlo (and he has no back-up)

either way you will be handing him 4m...so you either keep a player on 4m a year and keep him for (extreme)

emergencies or pay him the 4m now and have him earn a nice wee signing on fee at his next club.

that...and the greed of modern footballers
if we pay off players then people will criticize,if we end up stuck with them people will criticize...it is a never ending cycle of criticism that i have a problem with here.
