There is such a massive difference between the "best players in the world", and the players we've brought into the club in the past couple of years. There is plenty of gradation on a scale like thise, and we have simply not operated high enough up the scale. "dont fool you self into thinking otherwise"

We've overpaid for mediocre players, and consistently bought/loaned players who simply aren't accomplished enough for a club of this stature. The jersey weighs heavily, and this club needs stability; 20 or so 'new' arrivals at a club over a period of approximately 450 days, is fucking insanity.

You make it sound as though Juventus has lost all of its allure. Meanwhile, we're opening a new stadium, and it's become apparent to anyone with half a brain that we got bumrushed in the calciopoli debacle. We don't have CL right now, but this is still an attractive destination for many high quality players. Buying quality also makes the club more attractive to players.

I'm shocked that anyone, when looking at the past 3 windows and the sheer volume of new players that have arrived, would consider this a good way to operate a club like Juventus.

offcourse there is a scale up to the best players in the world, never said there wasnt. But that doesnt stop ppl here from thinking aguero, mata and players like them will arrive at juve.

its your opinion that we have overpaid for mediocre players as you call it. but who is mediocre? is vucinic ? quag ? matri ? vidal? pirlo? krasic? lichtensteiner? imo they are not near mediocre. not the best in the world, but good players.

the problem for juve, when marotta came, was that the squad was full of aging, high earning over the top players. Do you suggest we keep camoranesi, trez and the others?
then there is the players that didnt want to leave, who earn too much and nobody want; grosso, amauri comes to mind.

Its time coaches start getting who they want. No more "we'll try and accommodate the coaches requests" bull shit. Conte goes and signs who he wants thats it. Then it reflects what that the coach wants for his team to support his tactics not Marotta having the final say or Agnelli or whom ever has it. I think ti would be better in my opinion. Fire Marotta and let the coach decide who he wants in and out that how it should be.

I just think he shot for the moon. He thought World Class would come here and that was definately not the case. The problem I think Beppe has is that him and his right hand have is the ability to be creative. I don't see any creative signing in this Mercato with the exception of Vidal (which I can agrue is an element of good luck and good timing). Everything else seems very standard. Reminds me of watching Toronto Maple Leaf front office go to work for the duration of my sporting life.

so ok, who will hold training sessions while conte is flying around the world scouting potential targets or negotiating with the clubs for the prize... i mean if you don't have marotta who would do the negotiating ? if you leave it to someone else there is still the possibility that that someone would say "no, we wont pay that much" or "hey, i give you all our money" and overpay.

the other problem is, that just because a coach likes a player that does not mean that the player is really good or even fitted for their system.

how often did coaches get a player bought they really wanted and then the player flopped ? it would be even worse if the coach is negotiating himself because he would probably overpay most of the time because of the enthusiasm for the player. there needs to be someone in charge of the negotiations that has at least a slight clue of economics 101... no matter how sad the poor footballmanager crybaby fans are after not overpaying for their favourite player

I see most of this as 'woe is me' excuses. The gradation comment was made because you made it sound like we're helpless to sign quality players, just because we can't spend 40M on a guy right now - which I wasn't ever in favor of in the first place.

You're cherry picking your argument as well - this is what I was talking about when I said people needed to be objective. You can't just cite the 'better' signings, and then ignore all the other wasted money. We're talking about the guy's work over three mercatos - there are some serious misses. And Pirlo was free, and earning a great wage ffs. Basically, the players you mentioned should generally represent something of a minimum level of quality (except for maybe 1 or 2 additional younger guys on the cheap, who have considerable upside), and then we should be giving our current youngsters a run out.

Yes, I would have kept Trez. Also: Giovinco, Diego, Melo. All of those other "high earners" you're talking about? Except for Poulsen, (and Trez & Tiago who we let go for nothing - although thank god Tiago is gone) they're basically all still here, buddy. This 'clearing out the dead wood' argument is so old for me. We've released useful players at cut rates and the dead wood is mostly still here. At this point, those guys need to be gifted away, whenever possible. The season starts on Sunday (hopefully).

Marotta's brought in roughly 20 players, and we started with a few pretty solid players as well. At this point, with the resources at his disposal, if we don't have something that can approximate a 'foundation', then this guy shouldn't be working in professional football - in any capacity.
