If this mercato brings us the following players in total: Pirlo, Lichtsteiner, Ziegler, Pazienza, Vidal, Vargas, Rossi and a good CB, I will be very pleased.
We finished 7th last season and can't even provide European football for crying out loud. Surely, I would like Aguero to come, but this move was always very unrealistic.
One thing, though, it's a shame Marotta (and the club) promised the fans so called "champions", as we are in no position to get them. Luckily we got one, Andrea Pirlo.

If we bring in eight new players, plus the new coach, get ready for the inevitable "we changed many players and had a new system" excuse when we finish poorly.

Funny how this was to be the summer of only a few quality purchases.

That's gone out the window, apparently.

Yep, totally agree.

But with a new system and a new coach, surely we are pretty much starting from scratch. Surely no one here is expecting a scudetto challenge next year?

The players mentioned will improve the positions in question, that should be enough for now.

Yes, the excuse "we changed many players and had a new system" will be heard next season, and why shouldn't it? The Delneri-year was a complete disaster and a waste of time. When you change coach and system, you are starting from scratch.

I agree how can you expect a league title challenge with an average at best coach, with mediocre players? in fact how can you even expect a top three, champions league place finish with this?

When it comes to Conte, we'll just have to wait and see what he's made of. Lippi wasn't high profile when he became Juventus-coach either. Conte deserves a chance to prove himself. I like the fact that he wants to attack a lot. We'll see how it goes.
With the players in mention, if they gel and if they fit Conte's system, I think 3rd place might be in reach if we have a very good season. And we should be overjoyed if we get to the CL. Realistically, though, I think we're gonna finish 4th.

Because it flies in the face of all the post-disastrous-season PR we've had to put up with. We were told, time and time again, that there wouldn't be another revolution (which invariably was cited as one of the major causes of said failure in the first place). We would, rather, go for an "evolution" in quality. Very specifically "two or three champions" were talked about, with some names even mentioned as to the type we should expect. This leap in quality was supposed to be big enough to ensure a top three finish and CL qualification.

Now, it seems we're stuck in a loop.

Bring in a legion of new players after disaster.

Fail due to a lack of chemistry or whatever.

Management continues incompetence, brings in new legion.

It's absolutely imperative that they change the fucking record.

But we do need at least 3 for definite(LB, RB and LW), Pirlo for free looks like a good option, and we could probably do with a centre back too so that is 5 right there.

A striker isn't a bad thing to look at if we can get rid of Iaquinta and Amauri, which almost everybody has been calling for too. So that takes us to six.

This leaves us with Vidal which initally looks like a good deal given that Melo looks like he wants to go and Conte doesn't want him.

I agree that we should be looking for quality, but some things needed to be dealt with.

Jem my man! Where the fuck have u been?

Back after 4 years and straight to marotta thread to flame him,i like it :D
Thank you, Woody :)

Glad to be back posting again. I never actually -left- the place, I've just had very little time to post. That may seem a bit strange, but my days have been completely full. Work, law-studies, band-commitments, relationship. I just felt like I didn't have the time to engange in the forum-discussions anymore, even though I probably did. I was somewhat of a Tuz-junkie, I suppose, because I used to spend hours on end here :D

But I suppose it didn't have to take me 4 fucking years to post again. That's a bit silly, especially considering the fact that I've been reading the forum all along, lol.

I feel like that guy in Monthy Python's "Life of Brian" now, you know the naked, old dude who sat in that whole for 18 years refusing to speak. And then Brian jumps down there and steps on his foot so that he screams and breaks his silence, haha.

It was actually JCK who jumped down and stepped on my foot, he encouraged me to start posting again. And here I am :)

Yeah, well, like I said, I've been around even though I haven't been posting, so I know that the Tuz can be a lot more enjoyable and pleasant than it is at the moment. A lot of people here are frustrated because of the mercato, and it surely smells awful in that Aguero-thread (due to all the fapping I suppose), but I know that this is one of the best football forums there is, and that the people posting here are generally cool people. After all, we're juventini :)

The reality is so far Marotta has made good deals and bad deals. He's not perfect which is what we need to get back on top given how difficult our situation was and still is. He has been perfectly mediocre. 1 step forward, 1 step back, 1 step forward, 1 step back.

I'm hoping he can make a breakthrough soon. Vidal helps.

Seven new starters potentially. That's how much money we wasted last season, and how badly our previous mercato failed. Del Neri came in to be handed a revolutionised squad. Now Conte will also have a new setup. I can't see how its healthy to go on like this. We're promised 3 champions, and in the end we're probably buying players we could do without for the kind of money we're looking to spend. I see us improve this season for sure. But a lot of what plagued us last season is going to be an issue this season as well. Lack of continuity, lack of depth, and getting rid of useful players like Melo. God forbid, we fail this season? Then what? Sack Conte and sell the lot again? Marrotta needs to go. This man is not worthy of Juventus.
