Moggi blasts Juventus’ Marotta
Transfer chief Beppe Marotta is more responsible for Juventus’ problems this term than boss Gigi Del Neri, insists Luciano Moggi.

Speaking on Gold TV, the former Bianconeri director general thinks the club’s market moves last summer were of greater harm than the tactics of the Coach.

“I said at the start of the season that the team would finish in seventh or eighth and I’ve been proved right,” the banned ex-DG noted. “The quality of the squad was very low.

“Juventus have had an inconspicuous season, one also affected by injuries to important players at the wrong time.”

The Old Lady are set to miss out on European football altogether next year, a failure which may see Del Neri axed.

“If the alternatives to Del Neri are the names that I have been reading then I would stick with him,” Moggi added.

“That’s also because if he has failed then Marotta has failed even more. Therefore it is the director that should be shown the door first.”

Juventus had a busy past summer of buying and selling, a strategy that Moggi thinks should occur again at the end of this term.

“The squad needs renewing,” Moggi continued. “The defence and the midfield are priorities. Almost all of the players signed last summer need to be sold.”

When pushed on a possible successor to Del Neri, Moggi spoke well of former Juve midfielder Antonio Conte and ex-Primavera boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

“If I had to choose between Walter Mazzarri [Napoli], Andre Vilas Boas [Porto] and Conte [Siena] I would go for the former Bianconeri captain. Gasperini would be an alternative.”

Some were, not all, let's not pad the stats, they were all bought for 4-4-2 yet some clearly didn't fit. Krasic came in for Diego financially, and Quagliarella tactically, take it or leave it. I'd take those two over Diego every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Well of course you would, but it's still idiotic to sell Diego after one season. The guy had a similar season to Krasic here. That guy has done jack squat since the new year, but people don't blast him in the same way as Diego. Why is that? I already know the answer, Milos still plays at Juventus and Marotta signed him.

Agreed with everything apart from the Conte stuff. Actually, that might just be a vote of confidence for the captain because Moggi already knows he'll be the new manager. So good stuff from Moggi.

I think you're being very naive and biased, which I'm very well accustomed to when it comes to you. After all, you're the one who likes Pepe. Why? Well, that is pretty obvious.

Diego would probably have a better season than last year considering he'd have Krasic out right, and therefore more space. But lets not use football logic to evaluate our situation, lets just give Marotta more time.

Goalscoring wasn't even an issue until we had no strikers and then we brought in a good Matri, currently we are two goals shy of Napoli's fabled attack. Rather than focus on the flashy might have beens the fullbacks are the real issue that needed, and still needs, addressing.

Destabilised a pretty decent unit? Nah, let's go back to this time last year and try and tell me the same thing. They were a joke just like this team, nothing stable about it. Think back in time, a revolution was called for, rightly or wrongly. Older players needed releasing whether it was last season or this. However this is my main worry, we don't seem to be building anything.

Man, last years team may not have played the right system but they had more talent than the wrong team playing the right system. They had more identity than what we see now. Currently, we're a joke that never seems to get old. I'm not saying this in hindsight, but if last years team had been retained and we'd have spent half our budget on our fullbacks, we'd have been in third spot at worst. That team had a new core, was playing a new system for the first time in six years, and just needed continuity and a system to work. It had more character, talent and finesse than this one. A revolution wasn't what we needed in the first place. Only evolution. Said it time and again.

And you're main worry is pretty much the only worry. We aren't building squat. But the reason for that is, we have no core, foundation or identity because we have had no continuity in the last two years.

I'm talking about the team, not individual players. As a team. The team had no coherence or identity, it flitted from one thing to another but occasionally looked nice doing it. Quag for Trez is more accurate.
Last year we had DP, Amauri, Iaq and Trez in attack and this year we started with DP, Amauri, Iaq and Quagliarella. We brought Quag right after we got rid of Trez.
Krasic as a RW came for Camoranesi.
That leaves Lanzafame or Martinez for Diego
