That's true & there's also the option of remaining silent but he chose to sugar coat his decision to bring in DN, giving DN his vote of confidence publicly so he could look like he never really made a bad decision in the coaching department.

No, it wouldn't. That would be a way of answering the question without really answering the question but so it doesn't look suspicious as he still answered the question.
Exactly, plenty of people who are in the public spotlight give non-answers to tough questions when they aren't ready to speak openly about their plans. IMO this is what Marotta should have done here.

Considering all the criticism there has been of Delneri, do you not see that that would've made it look like the club didn't have faith in him and that he would probably be sacked?
What harm did he do by saying what he did anyway? What players/managers/directors say to the press isn't always their honest opinions, you know.
Marotta, the man who had one mission and that was to create a team that was better than last years historically bad team. He signs over 12 new players but somehow he still manages to create a team that is as bad as last seasons. Amazing, how does he do it?

Now why did he have to be so open about of transfer targets? That was a diversion tactic of his to deflect attention from the horrible season we are having. Honestly, with discussing which players we are after would that not put other clubs on alert & cause a bidding war in order to beat us to the punch? Look at how he went on & on about Pazzini, where is he? Same with Dzeko. Honestly, he makes the biggest rookie mistakes for a so called professional.
We will probably be lucky even to end up with a player like Bastos. Last summer this place was full of rumors of all the exciting talent that Marotta was supposedly chasing, as he did nothing to quell the rumors, and what did we end up with?
